Vintage Baby’s Sweater, Hat & Slippers #B107

Quick & easy to crochet this charming sweater with it‘s matching hat & slippers. Season-spanning & perfect for many occasions!

SIZE:  
Directions are for size 3 to 6 months. 
Larger sizes may be achieved by increasing size of hook & weight of yarn.

MATERIALS: 
4 skeins 3ply Baby Weight Yarn
#E Crochet Hook

SWEATER: 
Start at neck, ch 81 sts (to meas 10”).

1st Row:  Work 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch to end of Row, (80 sts), ch 1, & turn.

2nd Row:  Work 1 sc in each st across row, ch 1, turn.

3rd Row:  *Work 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next st, rep from *across Row, do not inc in last 5 sts thru out yoke.

4th Row:  Work even.

5th Row:  Inc in every 10th st.

6th Row:  Work even.

7th & 8th Rows:  Rep rows 5 & 6.

9th & 10th Rows:  Rep rows 3 & 4.

11th, 12th, 13th & 14th Rows:  Rep rows 5 & 6, 2 times.

15th & 16th Rows :  Work even.

17th Row:  Inc 11 sts only (162 sts).

18th Row:  Work even.

19th Row:  S1 st in first sc, ch 3, 1 dc in next st * sk 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, ch 2, dc in same st, sk 1 sc, 1 dc in each of next 2 dc, rep from *to end of Row, ch 3, turn (33 dc patts).

20th Row:  Work 1 dc in each of first 2 dc, * l dc over ch 2, ch 2, 1 dc in same place, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, rep from *to end of row, ch 3, turn.

21st Row:  Work 1 dc in each of first 2 dc, *1 dc over ch 2, ch 2, 1 dc in same place, 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, rep from *to end of Row, ch 3, turn.

Rep Row 21, two more times.

24th Row:  Follow patt inc 1 dc in each dc group across row.

25th Row:  Follow patt & work over 12 patts, end with 1 dc in first dc group after last open patt, ch 3, turn.

Sleeves: 
Follow patt back to with in 5 dc groups of front, end Row with 1 dc in first dc group after last open patt, ch 3, turn.

Rep these 2 rows until you have 10 rows from beg of sleeve.

Make dec in center of every dc group as follows; yo, insert hook in first st, draw thread thru (3 lps on needle), insert hook in next st, draw thru, yo, draw thread thru 3 lps, yo, draw thru 2 lps.

Work 2 more rows even.

Now make another dec.

Work 2 more rows even (16 rows).

Cuff: 
Work 1 sc in each dc, 1 sc over ch 2 across row, now work 3 rows of sc even.

Scallop: 
*Ch 3, sk 1 sc, sc in next st, rep from *across row. 

Fasten thread in last dc of first row of sleeve, follow patt across back (16 patts) ending with open patt & 1 dc in first dc group after last open patt, ch 3, turn.

Work 2nd sleeve to correspond to other sleeve.

Sew up sleeve seams.

Cont in patt, working 4 dc in dc groups to underarm seam, 2 dc with ch 2 bet in sleeve seam, cont across back, 2 dc with ch 2 bet sleeve seam, in 2nd sleeve, follow patt across front.

Next Row:  Inc group of 4 dc to 5 dc.

Work 4 rows even.

Now cont to inc 1 dc in each dc group, every 5th Row, until there are 7 dc.

Work 4 rows even, break thread.

BUTTONHOLES: 
Start at neck edge of left front yoke work 1 sc in each row to bottom of yoke, *ch 3, sc in each row, rep from * to bottom of sacque then * ch 3, sk 1 st, sc in next st, rep from *across bottom, ch 3, work other front to correspond to yoke, sc in each row of yoke. 

Ch l, turn, 1 sc in each of first 3 sts, ch 3, sk 2 sts (buttonhole), 4 sc, ch 3, sk 2 sc, 4 sc, ch 3, sk 2 sc, 3 sc in last 3 sts, break thread.

Sew on buttons to correspond to buttonholes.

CAP: 
Ch 4, join, ch 3, work 11 dc in ring, join with sl st.

2ND Row:  Ch 3, 2 dc in each st (24 dc) incl ch 3 at beg of row, join with sl st.

3RD Row:  Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, * 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, rep from * around row (36 dc); join with sl st.

4TH Row:  Ch 3, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, * 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, rep from * around (48 dc), join with sl st.

5TH Row:  Ch 3, 1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, * 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 2 dc in next st, rep from * around (60 dc), join with sl st.

Inc in this manner, having 1 more dc bet each inc, thus adding 12 more sts in each row, until you have 9 inc rows (108 sts).

Work without inc for 5 more rows. 

Ch 3, turn, sk first st, work 1 dc in each st to within 26 sts of ch 3 at beg of row (back of cap). 

* Ch 3, turn, sk first st, 1 dc in each st across, rep from * for 6 more rows, dec 2 sts in each row, but do not have decs at same place as prev row.

Brim: 
1ST Row:  Ch 3, turn, work 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, ch 1, dc in same st as last dc, *1 dc in each of next 4 sts, ch 1, dc in same st, rep from * across row, ending row with 1 dc in each of last 3 sts, ch 3, turn;

2ND Row:  Work 1 dc in each of first 2 dc, 1 dc bet next 2 dc, ch 1, dc in same place, * 3 dc over 3 dc group, 1 dc bet next 2 dc, ch l, dc in same st, rep from * across row, ch 3, turn.

3RD Row:  Inc 2 dc in each dc group (5 dc over 3 dc), but do not inc in first & last dc groups.

4TH & 5TH Rows:  Work even.  Start on right side of brim, fasten yarn & * ch 3, sk 1 st, sc in next st, rep from *across front of cap.

Hat cord may be sewed on wrong side of brim if desired.

Fold band back & crochet side of band to cap, cont crocheting in each st across front of cap, cont on other side & sc around back of cap sk about 4 sts on back.

SHOES:
With double strand of yarn, ch 17, dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in each of the next 13 sts, 3 dc in end st, 13 dc on other side of ch, 3 dc in last st, join with sl st.  Ch 3.

Work 1 more Row in same manner, increasing 8 d c in the rnd, ch 1.

3RD Row:  Work 2 sc in next 4 sts, 1 hdc in next st, dc in each st to within 9 sts from beg of row (inc 8 sts to rnd), 1 hdc, sc to end of rnd, narrow part is heel.  Ch l, 1 sc around sole, picking up inside thread only;

NEXT ROW:  Work 1 sc in each st to within 9 sc of center front, 1 hdc 15 dc, 1 hdc, sc along side to within 7 sc of center back, 1 hdc, 11 dc, 1 hdc, sc on other side to within 8 dc of center front, 1 hdc, work 6 dc in next 12 dc (work 2 dc as 1 dc, thus dec every other dc), 1 hdc.

Work 2nd Row of heel in same manner as first.

Work next row same as prev row in front (6 decs) but work sides & heel in sc.

On 5th row from sole, work 1 row of sc around shoe, now sc to within 11 sts of front, ch 1, turn, sc to within 10 sts of center front, ch 20 sts for strap, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc to end of turning ch.  Ch 1, turn,

Work 2 more rows in same manner.

On end of strap, sc, ch 3, sc (buttonhole), fasten off.

Sew on button.

Work other shoe to correspond.
