Knit a beautiful Christening robe (it's easy, too). Your baby will look adorable in this
Exquisite dress with a delicate, hand-knitted lacy pattern. The
skirt is in a simple pattern,
& the bodice in stocking stitch.
MATERIALS:
10 (11) Balls Sirdar Wonderland Wash 'n' Wear 4-ply (20g)
1 Pair Each #10 & #11 Knitting Needles
1 Crochet Hook #3.00
2 Small Buttons
Narrow Ribbon
MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = 41 (46) cm – 16” (18”)
Length from shoulder = 60 (62) cm - 23½” (24½”)
Sleeve seam = 13 (15) cm – 5” (6”)
TENSION:
15 Sts = 5 cm (2”) over st st
FRONT:
Use #10 needles cast on 153 (161) sts & work 4 rows st st.
HEMLINE ROW:
K 1, * y fwd, k 2 tog, rep from * to end.
Start with p row work 3 rows st st.

SLEEVES:
Use #10 needles, cast on 49 sts & work hem & first 10
patt rows as for front.
Cont in st st, inc 1 st each end of next & foll 4th
rows until 55 (59) sts.
Cont without shaping until sleeve meas 13 (15) cm – 5” (6”)
from hemline, end with p row.
SHAPE TOP:
Cast off 2 sts at beg next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st each end of next & foll, alt rows until 45 (41) sts,
then every row until 15 sts rem.
Cast off.
FINISHING:
Press lightly with dry cloth & cool iron.
Using fine back st, join side, shoulder & sleeve seams.
Sew in sleeves.
Turn up hems on skirt & sleeves & sl st in place.
NECK EDGING:
With RS facing & # 11 needles pick up & k 11 (12) sts
across left back neck, 11
(12) sts alongside neck, 14 sts from centre front, 11 (12)
sts alongside neck & 11 (12)
sts across right back neck.
Beg p row work 3 rows st st.
4TH ROW: K 1, * y fwd, k 2 tog, rep from * to last
st, k 1.
Beg p row work 3 rows st st. Cast off loosely.
Fold neck edging in half to WS on 4th row & sl
st loosely in place.
With RS facing, work 1 row DC around back opening, make
2-CH 4 buttonholes on RS.
Attach buttons.
Thread ribbon thru holes at waist & patt, at sleeves.
Lightly press seams & hems with cool iron & dry
cloth.
