Vintage 1951 Angora Stole Wrap #344

A clever needle worker will quickly create this lovely stole…then commence another in a different color…a perfect top for your outfit & a season-spanning wardrobe favorite to keep or gift!

SIZE: 
Approximately 20 ½” by 46”.

MATERIALS: 
Fleisher’s
OR
Bucilla Imported French Angora, 23 balls.
1 Pair #8 Knitting Needles

GAUGE: 
5 sts = 1”

SHRUG:
Cast on 220 sts for lower edge. 

P 1 row.

QUAKER RIB PATTERN - PURL RIB:  k 1 row, p 1 row for 9 rows.

KNIT RIB:  K 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row.

Repeat these 12 rows of pat until there are 11 p ribs on right side & 2 rows of 11th k rib.

DEC ROW:  K 78; k 2 tog 32 times; k 78; 188 sts. 

Work 10 rows of 12th p rib. 

Bind off for front & neck edge.

BORDERS: 
From right side, skip first p rib, pick up & k 93 sts on side edge, leaving last p rib free. 

K 1 row, p 1 row for 10 rows for p rib.  Bind off. 

Work other side in same way.

FINISHING: 
Sew ends of borders tog with p rib left free at 4 corners. 

Beg 6” from corners, tack bound-off edge of borders to [lower] cast-on edge for ¾”.
