Vintage 1951 Angora  Knit Shrug #343

A clever needle worker will quickly create this lovely shrug…then commence another in a different color…a perfect top for your outfit & a season-spanning wardrobe favorite to keep or gift!

MATERIALS: 
Fleisher’s
OR
Bucilla Imported Featherlite Angora, 11 balls
OR
Fleisher’s Twinklette
OR
Bear Brand Tricolite, 7 skeins
OR
Fleisher’s or Bear Brand Petite Knitting Worsted, 3 skeins
1 Pair #4 Knitting Needles


SHRUG:
Cast on 216 sts very loosely for outer edge of one half.

Work k 3, p 3 rib for 7”.

1st dec row:  Wrong Side:  K 2 tog, across row; 108 sts.  K 1, * p 3, k 3; rep from *, end p 3, k 2.

Next row:  P 2, * k 3, p 3; rep from *, end k 3, p 1.

Rep last 2 rows until 4 ½” above last dec row, end on right side.

2nd dec row:  K 2 tog across row; 54 sts.

Work k 3, p 3 rib for 2 ½”.  Bind off in rib.  Make 2 pieces.

FINISHING: 
Sew side edges of each half tog for underarm seam. 

Place a marker on each half at end of 18th k rib from seam for back of neck. 

Beg at markers, sew halves tog for the next 12 k ribs for center back, match ribs, leaving rem 24 k ribs free. 

Steam lightly.
