FABRIC SKIRT:
Using patt pieces K, L & M, cut lining from illusion & slip from taffeta.
Using patt pieces K, L & M, cut lining from illusion & slip from taffeta.
Assemble slip & lining, following printed patt
directions for 1st view – unit 8A.
With WS tog [net-like illusion lies next to crochet skirt],
gather tops of slip & lining as 1, adjusting to needed fullness using
crochet skirt as guide.
Secure gathers with bias seam tape sewn to inside of
slip-lining [next to taffeta slip].
FABRIC BODICE:
Pin side seams of tissue patt for bodice front & back, view 5 pieces P & R.
Pin side seams of tissue patt for bodice front & back, view 5 pieces P & R.
Match armhole curves, adjust patt to meas 5/8” below lower
crochet bodice edge. [Approx 1” added to lower bodice patt edge].
Assemble bodice front, back slip & lining following
printed patt directions for View 5 – Units 1, 2 & 3.
SLEEVES:
Use patt piece AX & chiffon, cut out sleeves using casing line as lower cutting edge.
Use patt piece AX & chiffon, cut out sleeves using casing line as lower cutting edge.
Stitch underarm seam. Finish seam.
At lower edge turn up 3/8” casing.
Cut ¼” elastic to desired wrist meas + ½”.
Draw elastic thru sleeve casing & secure.
Tack finished edge of crochet cuff to lower sleeve edge.
Set in sleeves following printed patt directions for 1st
view – unit 7.
BODICE JOINING:
Sew fabric bodice to fabric skirt.
Sew fabric bodice to fabric skirt.
Set in zipper.
Use waistline seam as placement line, hand sew crochet
skirt to fabric skirt waistline.
Tack crochet skirt around zipper opening.
Join shoulder seams of crochet bodice following 2nd
diagram.
With WS tog, hand sew crochet bodice to fabric dress around
neckline & center back zipper opening.
Tack crochet bodice at shoulder seams & down front
armhole edge for approx 4”.
LOWER EDGES:
Turn up & hem taffeta slip to same length as crochet skirt to beg of border.
Turn up & hem taffeta slip to same length as crochet skirt to beg of border.
Finish illusion with bridal ribbon to same length as
taffeta.
BELT:
Cut belting to needed waist meas + 2”.
Cut belting to needed waist meas + 2”.
Cover with 1 layer each of illusion then chiffon.
Secure with snaps to needed waist meas, secure 2” overlap
with hook & eye.
BOW:
With crochet hk work CH approx 70” long.
With crochet hk work CH approx 70” long.
SC in 2nd CH & in each CH to end. Fasten
off.
Form bow with 7 lps & secure at center front of belt as
shown in photo.
Gathering small bits of illusion, sew “flower” to each end
of CH & at center of bow.
CAP:
LINING:
Have 1 layer of illusion over 1 layer of taffeta & cover purchased bridal cap [both inside & outside], turning under raw edges at cap’s lower edge.
LINING:
Have 1 layer of illusion over 1 layer of taffeta & cover purchased bridal cap [both inside & outside], turning under raw edges at cap’s lower edge.
Following 2nd diagram, join yarn to pint A, CH
1, Sc in same sp.
Work in each st & CH along lower edge bet A & B
points, work HDCs, DCs & TRCs to make lower edge lie evenly along cap’s
lower edge. Fasten off.
Tack this edge to lower edge of cap & tack P edge to
outer edge of cap.
VEIL:
LOWER PIECE:
From illusion cut 2 rectangles approx 34” x 50”.
LOWER PIECE:
From illusion cut 2 rectangles approx 34” x 50”.
Along 1 short edge, gather dbl thickness of illusion to
lower cap edge.
Tack along this edge, & keep gathers even.
UPPER VEIL:
From illusion cut 2 rectangles, approx 4 yds x 90” [or width of fabric].
From illusion cut 2 rectangles, approx 4 yds x 90” [or width of fabric].
Fold in half & run gathering thread along 3 raw edges.
Be sure gathers are evenly distributed, tack along lower
edge of cap over lower piece.
