Vintage 1960s Palm Beach Cocktail Dress #1172
SIZE:
Directions are for Small Size (10 - 12).
Changes for Medium (14 - 16) are in parentheses.

MATERIALS:
Columbia-Minerva
Camelot, 1 oz 12 (14) Balls
1 Pair Boye Knitting Needles #6
1 Crochet Hook #1

GAUGE:
6 sts = 1”
8 rows = 1”

MEASUREMENTS:
Width across back = 17” (18½”)
Length shoulder to hem = 33¾” (34¼”)
Width across shoulders = 14½” (16½”)

BACK:
Cast on 173 (192) sts. P 1 row.
1ST ROW - RIGHT SIDE: K 1, * K 2 tog, K 7, inc 1 by K in thread before next st, P 1, inc 1, K 7, sl 1, K 1, psso, rep from * across, end K 1.
2ND ROW: P.

NEXT ROWS: Rep these 2 rows for patt, work to 3” from start, end with 2nd Row.

NOTE:
Directions are for 33¾” (34¼”) dress, meas from shoulder to hem, allow 3” for blocking - to lengthen or shorten, make adjustment here.

ARMHOLES:

NEXT ROWS: Careful to follow pat, work on 87 (98) sts to 5¾” (6¼”) straight above bound-off sts, end on right side.

Width across shoulders is 14½” (16½”).

NEXT ROW: P 28 (32) sts, place marker on needle, P next 31 (34) sts, place 2nd marker on needle, P to end of row.

SHOULDER AND NECK:
Bind off 3 (4) sts at beg of next 7 rows.

Start at underarm, crochet 1 row of sc around armholes.

Start at shoulder, crochet 1 row of sc around neck.
