Vintage 1960s Miami Lace Dress

SIZE:
Directions are for Small Size (8 to 10).
Changes for Medium (14 to 16) & Large (18) are in parentheses.
MATERIALS:
Columbia-Minerva 1 oz ball, 9 (11,13) balls
1 Boye Crochet Hook # 5
GAUGE/MEASUREMENT:
Gauge is measured when pattern is "opened up."
Directions are for 32” dress, measured from hemline to back of neck, allow 1½” for
stretch.
Width across back 20¾”(22”-23¼”).
To lengthen or shorten make adjustment before starting yoke.
BACK:
Ch 180(190-200).
1ST ROW: 1 sc in 9th ch from hk to count as 1st lp, * ch 5, sk 4 ch, 1 sc in next ch,
rep from * until there are 33(35-37) lps, ch 7, turn. Cut off rem ch.
2ND ROW: 1 sc in 1st lp, * ch 5, 1 sc in next lp, rep from * across,
ch 7, turn.
NEXT
ROWS: Rep 2nd Row for patt, working to 30” or 2” less than desired
finished length from hemline to neck, ch 3 instead of 7 at end of last row,
turn.
Width
across back is 20¾”(22”-23¼”).
YOKE:
1ST ROW: 1 Sc
in 1st lp, * ch 1, 1 sc in next lp, rep from * across, end with 1 sc in last lp
- 33(35-37) sc, ch 2, turn.
2ND ROW: 1 sc in 1st ch-1 sp, * ch 1, 1 sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from
* across, ch 2, turn.
Rep 2nd
Row 3 times more, omit last ch 2 at end of last row. Fasten off.
FRONT:
Work same as back.
Seam
side edges of yoke for shoulders.
Start
at hemline & sew side seams to 6¼”(6½”-6¾”) below shoulder.
On
right side start at side seam, crochet 1 row of sc around armholes, hold in if
desired.
