Vintage 1960s Fluffy Ribbed Knit Snood #1010

You’ll love how quickly this project flies off your knitting needles!  Soon you’ll be making them in every shade to keep & gift…this is also a marvelous church bazaar sale item…orders will come in droves!

MATERIALS:
3 balls Villawool Lorelei
1 Pair #5 Knitting Needles
1 Pair #7 Knitting Needles
1 ½ yds Velvet Ribbon

TENSION:
9 sts = 2”

ABBREVIATIONS:
C2 =  cross 2:  Knit into front of 2nd stitch, then into first stitch, slip both off needle
YF =  yarn forward

SNOOD:
Using #7 needles, cast on 91 sts.

Work 4 rows in garter stitch.

RIBBONHOLES:
NEXT ROW:  K 1, * yf, k 2 tog, k 1, rep from * to end.

NEXT ROW:  Purl & inc 34 sts evenly.  [125 sts]

Change to #5 needles & patt as follows:
1ST ROW:  [K 4, p 1] rep to end.

2ND ROW:  [K 1, p 4] rep to end.

3RD ROW:  [C 2 twice, p 1] rep to end.

4TH ROW:  Same as 2nd row.

Rep these 4 rows 8 times, ending on 4th row [7”].

Decrease as follows:
1ST ROW:  [K 1, k 2 tog, k 1, p 1] rep to end.

2ND ROW:  [K 1, p 3] rep to end.

3RD ROW:  [Sl 1, k 2 tog, psso, p 1] rep to end.

4TH ROW:  [K 1, p 1] rep to end.

5TH ROW:  K 1, * k 2 tog, rep from * to last stitch, p 1.

6TH ROW:  [P 2 tog] rep to end.

Break off a length of yarn & thread thru rem sts.

FINISHING:
Press work on wrong side.

Draw up rem sts & fasten off securely.

Sew up back seam.

Press seam.

Thread ribbon thru ribbonholes & tie at front in bow.

Brush well with teasel brush on right side of work.

Put on & look Lovely!
