Vintage 1954 Shrug Sweater Bolero #352

A feminine shoulder-shrug, crocheted in simple lace motifs with knitted cuffs…sprinkled with sequins for gala occasions.

MATERIALS: 
Red Heart Sock & Sweater Yarn, 3 Ply, 3 skeins [1 oz]
#4 Crochet Hook
1 Pair #2 [2 3/4mm] Knitting Needles

GAUGE: 
Each motif measures 6” square.

MOTIF [Make 12]:  
Starting at center, ch 6.  Join with sl st to form ring

1ST RND:  Ch 3, 19 dc in ring.  Join to top of ch 3.

2ND RND:  Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, sc in next dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

3RD & 4TH RNDS:  Sl st in next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 3, sc in next loop.  Rep from * around.  Join.

5TH & 6TH RNDS:  Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 5, sc in next loop.  Rep from * around.  Join.

7TH RND:  Sl st to center of next loop, sc in same loop, * ch 5, dc in next loop, ch 5, in next loop make tr, ch 5 & dtr; in next loop make dtr, ch 5 & tr; ch 5, dc in next loop, ch 5, sc in next loop.  Rep from * around.  Join & break off.

Make 3 rows of 4 motifs & sew motifs neatly together.  If desired, trim motifs with sequins & beads.  Sc closely across each long side.

CUFFS: 
With knitting needles & right side facing, pick up & knit 80 sts along short end of shrug.  Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 3”.  Bind off loosely in ribbing.  Sew up cuff seam & 1” of shrug.  Complete other side to correspond.  Press through a damp cloth.
