Free Pattern - 1946 Rosette Cap #160

1946 Rosette Cap #160

Size:  Medium

Materials: 
Fleisher’s Straw-Twist or Bucilla Strawkraft, 3 balls.
Fleisher’s or Bucilla Steel Crochet Hooks, 1 each #0 & #3.

Crown: 
With 2 strands & # 0 hook, ch 20, 2 sc in 3rd st from hook, 1 sc in each of next 16 sts, 5 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 16 sts on other side of ch, 2 sc in same st as first 2 sc, sl st at top of 2nd ch; 42 sts count ch 2 as 1 sc.  Mark end of rnds. 

Work in back loop of st in every rnd.

2nd Rnd:  Ch 2, 2 sc in same st as sl st, 1 sc in each of 20 sts, 5 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 20 sts, 2 sc in same st as first 2 sc, join this & every rnd with sl st at top of 2nd ch; 50 sts.

3rd Rnd:  Work as for 2nd rnd with 24 sc bet incs on each side, [58 sts].

4th Rnd:  Ch 2, 1 sc in same st as sl st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 26 st, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 26 st, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in same st as first sc, [66 sts].

5th & 6th Rnds:  Work as for 4th round have 4 sts more on each side after each rnd, [82 sts].

7th Rnd:  Ch 2, 1 sc in same st as sl st, * 1 sc in each of 19 sts, 2 sc in each of 2 sts, 1 sc in each of 19 sts *, 2 sc in next st; rep bet *’s once, [88 sts].

8th & 9th Rnds:  Ch 2, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in each st to end.

10th Rnd:  Ch 2, * 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 8 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 10 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 10 sts, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of 10 sts, 2 sc in next st *, 1 sc in next st; rep bet *’s once, [98 sts].

11th Rnd:  Ch 2, 1 sc in each st.  Fasten off.

Rosettes:  Make 6. 
With single strand & # 3 hook, ch 5, join with sl st.  Ch 3, work 14 dc in ring, join this & every rnd with sl st in 3rd ch; count 15 sts count ch 2 as 1 dc.

2nd Rnd:  Work in back loop of each st, ch 3, 1 dc in same st as sl st, 2 dc in each st, [30 sts].

3rd & 4th Rnds:  Work same as 2nd rnd, [120 sts].  Fasten off.

Group 3 rosettes tog & sew on each side, as illustrated.
