Easy Bolero Shrug #B-129
A
clever needleworker will so quickly craft this delightful little wrap to cover
a little one’s shoulders, that it will become a favorite pattern to create many
times….to keep & gift!
MATERIALS:
American Thread Company, Dawn Infant’s Wool, Art #W5, 2 -.- 1 oz balls
Star Six Strand Mercerized Embroidery Cotton, Art #50, 1 skein each pink, blue, yellow & green
½ yd Narrow Ribbon
Bone Crochet Hook #2
Pair Bone Knitting Needles #1
Pair Bone Knitting Needles #3

SHRUG:
On #1 needles, cast on 44 sts.
On #1 needles, cast on 44 sts.
Work
in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1 ½”.
Change
to #3 needles.
K
1 row, inc 1 st in each of 1st 2 sts, then inc 1 st in every other st [67 sts].
Next
row starts patt.
1ST
ROW: * K 1, p 1, rep from * across row
end with k 1.
2ND
ROW: * P 1, k 1, rep from * across row
end with p 1.
3RD
ROW: Same as 2nd row.
4TH
ROW: Same as 1st row.
Rep
these 4 rows for 18”, end with 1st row of patt.
NEXT
ROW: K across row dec 2 sts at beg of
row, then dec every other st across
rem of row [44 sts].
Change
to #1 needles.
Work
in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 1 ½”, break yarn.
Sew
ribbing tog.
With
wrong side of work facing you,
attach yarn about 3” from ribbing & work row of shells to within 3” of
opposite of cuff for collar, [shells: * ch 3, 2 dc in same st, sk 3 rows, sc in
next row, rep from * across row], break yarn.
With
right side of work facing you, attach
yarn in same sp with 1st shell & work row of shells around rem
of shrug.
Fold
collar back about 1” & with embroidery cotton, embroider sprays as shown in
photo.
With
pink, work rambler rose, start with cross stitch for center & work 3 rows
of outline st around cross st.
With
blue, embroider 1 flower of 5 french knots with a yellow French knot center.
With
green, embroider stems in outline stitch & leaves in lazy daisy stitch,
having leaves 3/8” long.
Attach
ribbon at each end of collar.
