1945 Flower Bandeau Hat #227

Materials:
Hiawatha Strawlite art. #47, 2 tubes
#0 Steel Crochet Hook,
OR
#3 Bone Crochet Hook

ABBREVIATIONS:
CH              =       Chain
DC              =       Double Crochet
INC             =       Increase
REP           =       Repeat
RND           =       Round
SC              =       Single Crochet
SL              =       Slip
ST              =       Stitch

Band: 
Ch 35.

1st rnd:  3 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, 5 sc in last ch, then working along other side of foundation ch, work sc in each ch, ending with 2 sc in same ch where 1st 3 sc were made. 

2nd rnd:  3 Sc in next [center] sc, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in each st across to 5 center sts at other end, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, 3 sc in next [center] st, sc next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in each st across other side to 2 sts from end, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st [8 incs].

3rd rnd:  Sc, inc at ends only by working 3 sc in center st [4 incs].

4th rnd:  Sc, inc ends as on 3rd rnd & also inc 1 st each side of each end [8 incs].

5th rnd:  Work even [no incs]. 

Rep last 2 rnds until piece is 4” wide, end with an even rnd.  Sl st in next st.  Fasten off.

Flower [Make 2]: 
Ch 13.

1st row:  Sc in 2nd ch from hook & in each ch across [12 sc].  Ch 1, turn.

2nd row:  Sc in 1st sc, * ch 12, 5 dc in 4th ch from hook, 3 dc in each of next 8 ch, sc in next sc [1st petal made.]  Rep from * across [11 petals].

Finishing: 
Sew one flower at each end of band.

NOTE: 
To make this ‘Fascinator’ extra special, add a veil of net, lace or dotted-Swiss in a matching color.
