Vintage 1945 Crochet Sea Shell Accessories #525

A clever woman quickly & very easily crochets these charming sea shell accessories with delightful contrasting colors & design…a season-spanning, wardrobe favorite!

MATERIALS:

J & P Coats or Clark’s ONT Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 2 balls Green

#7 Steel Crochet Hook

2 yds Narrow Purple Velvet Ribbon 3/8” wide

13 Gold Ball Beads

Hair Comb

Pair Earring Bases

CHOKER:  BEADING: 

Ch 88 to meas 13”. 

Work dc in 4^th ch from hk, * ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next ch, ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch.  Rep from * across.  Break off. 

Cut ¾ yd of ribbon & draw thru Beading, having 2-dc groups on right side. 

Tack Beading along center 12” of ribbon.

DROP:  SHELL: 

1^ST RND:  Ch 2, work 8 sc in 2^nd ch from hk.  Sl st in front lp of 1^st sc.

2^ND RND:  Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st.  * Dc in front lp of next sc, 2 dc in front lp of following sc.  Rep from * around.  Sl st in 3^rd st of starting ch-3, sl st in each dc around.

3^RD RND:  Work in rem lp of each sc of 1^st rnd, make 3 tr in each of next 5 sc, 3 dc in next sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc.  Turn & work sl st in each st around, sl st in 1^st sl st.  Break off.

BACK: 

1^ST RND:  Ch 4, make 12 sc in 4^th ch from hk, sl st in 3^rd st of starting ch.

2^ND RND:  * 2 Sc in next dc, sc in next dc.  Rep from * around, sl st in 1^st sc.  Break off. 

Cup 3^rd rnd of Shell & sew edge of Back to edge of Shell, stuffing slightly with cotton before opening is closed.

Sew bead in center of cup formed by 2^nd rnd of Shell. 

Make 4 more Drops same as this & sew to lower edge of Beading at 5 center 2-dc groups.

BRACELET:  BEADING: 

Ch 46 & work same as Beading of Choker. 

Cut ½ yd of ribbon, draw it thru Beading & tack it along center 6”  of ribbon. 

Make 3 Drops same as Drop of Choker & sew to bottom of 2^nd, 3^rd & 4^th 2-dc groups.

EARRINGS: 

Make 2 Drops same as Drop of Choker & sew to earring bases.

COMB: 

Make 3 Drops same as Drop of Choker & sew across center of comb. 

Cut rem 27” of ribbon in half, make 2 bows & sew one to each end of Comb.
