Ribbon Hat #620
A clever needlewoman
will quickly & easily crochet this charming hat…& find herself to be
the most fashionably dressed lady where ever she travels in her season-spanning
favorite!
MATERIALS:
Mogor
Crochet Gimp, 4 tubes
#3
Crochet Hook
2
yds Ribbon, 1” wide
GAUGE:
7
sts = 1”; 8 rows = 1”
HAT:
To
start, ch 4, join with sl st.
1ST
ROW: 6 Sc in loop.
2ND
ROW: 2 Sc in each st of prev row.
3RD
ROW: * 1 Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st,
* & rep until end of row.
Cont
making 6 incs in each row until hat meas 6” across, then cont without inc until
hat meas 5 ½” from center to edge. Break
thread.
BRIM:
Ch
enough to go around crown, join with sl st, sc in each ch & work around
until brim meas 2 ½”, & join to crown with sc.
Pleat
ribbon & sew on top of brim.
HEAD
BAND:
Wind
gimp around 2 fingers 5 times to form lp & sc around lp to form ring, ch 1,
turn, sc in 5 sts of prev row, ch 1, turn, sc twice in next st, sc to end of
row & twice in last st, ch 1, turn.
Sc
in each st of prev row.
Inc
in first & last st of every other row until there are 11 sts, & then
cont until band is long enough to fit ½ side of head. Break thread.
Start
other side of ring & make other side of band.
Join
to hat to fit snugly around head.
This
is so lovely, you’ll want to start all over again in another color!
