1935 Marina Lace Knit Bridal Dress #442

Designed in all white as an unforgettable bridal gown, a charming confection of long sleeves & floor-length knitted lace…or, just imagine it for late afternoon or evening in midnight blue or black!

MATERIALS:
Minerva Velveen Yarn [disc], 8 Balls [approx 300 yds ea]
Pair #11 Knitting Needles
#4 Steel Crochet Hook 

GAUGE:  2 Knots = 1”

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Bust:  35"
Waist:  29"
Hip:  38"


BODICE:  FRONT:  Cast on 66 sts. P 1 row.

Patt is worked on a multiple of 4 sts plus 2 sts.

1ST ROW: K. 1 st., *pick up & k next thread bet sts k 1, pick up & k next thread bet sts, sl 1 st, k 2 tog, psso k 2 tog, rep from * across row, end last st k 1.

2ND ROW & ALL EVEN ROWS: P [66 sts].

3RD ROW: K 1, *sl 1, k 2 tog, psso k 2 tog, pick up & k next thread bet sts, k 1, pick up & k next thread bet sts, rep from * across row, end last st, k 1.

REPEAT 4 rows of patt for entire dress.

WORK 112 rows even to shoulder. 

NEXT ROW:  Work across 13 sts, bind off 40 sts for neck opening.  Work 13 sts to end of row. 

NEXT ROW:  Cast on 40 sts over those bound off.  Cont to work even [66 sts] for 112 rows for back, bind off.

SLEEVE:  Start 3” from bottom of bodice, pick up 106 sts, end 3” from other end of underarm, work in patt, dec 3 sts each side every 10 rows 4 times [24 sts], [dec by k 2 sts tog 2 times, then sl 1st st over 2nd st], then dec same every 8 rows 4 times, then every 6 rows 4 times, 34 sts rem.  

Work even for 30 rows, bind off. 

Sew underarm seams.

SKIRT:  
Start at waist, cast on 138 sts, work in patt. 

WORK 2” even, then inc 1 st each side every other row 33 times [keep patt even] [204 sts on needle].

NOW divide in 3 panels [68 sts in each panel]. 

WORK each gore separate inc 1 st each side every 4th row 21 times. 

WORK even until panel meas 20” or desired length [allowing about 4” for stretch].

WORK other two panels same.

SEW seams by weaving bet single threads of edge. 

CROCHET beading at top of skirt for elastic, sew bodice over beading. 

CROCHET picot edge around bottom of skirt & sleeves. 


CROCHET around neck [Ch 5, 1 sc in next patt] to shape, then work picot edge.
