as 2nd row.

dc, omit ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next, * ch 1, sk 1, dc in next, rep from *
across, end with 2 open sps in 1st & 2nd sts of turn
ch [64 open sps], ch 3, turn.
33rd row:
Dc
in 1st dc, dc across to within last 2 dc, not count the ch 3, &
work 1 dec st as follows: Thread over
hook, draw a loop thru each of next 2 dc, draw thread thru first 3 loops, draw
thread thru last 2 loops. Ch 3, turn.
34th row:
Sk
1st dc [dec st], 2 dec sts in next 4 dc, dc across, end with 2 dc in
turn ch, ch 5, turn.
35th row:

1st solid row above waistline: 1 Dc in 1st dc, 2 dc in 1st
sp, dc over dc & sps, end as usual, ch 3, turn.
2nd solid row: Work as usual to within last 2 dc, do not count
turn ch, & work 2 dc in each of last 2 dc, 1 dc in turn ch, ch 3, turn.
3rd solid row: 1 Dc in 1st dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc

Work
2 solid rows as usual, which brings work to neck edge.
1st short row: Sl st to 4th dc, 1 sc in next, dc
across end in usual way.
2nd short row: Open sps to within 2 sts from end, omit ch 1 in
last open sp, ch 1, turn.
3rd short row: Sl st to 2nd open sp, sc in next dc,
dc across end in usual way, ch 3, turn.
4th short row: Work in usual way to within 5th dc
from end, 1 sc in next, ch 1, turn.
5th short row: Sl st to 3rd dc, 1 sc in next, dc
across with usual end, ch 3, turn.

If

LEFT
BACK PANEL:
Follow
directions of Right Front Panel, work 4 more rows before start center seam [140
dc in last solid dc row, count turn ch as a dc ]. 26th open row should have 47 open
sps.
Work
2 solid rows of dc as usual, end at side seam.
Then
work short rows same as top of panel, having 4 short open rows instead of 3,
& end with 2nd solid row with 2 dec st, 1 dc & break off.
RIGHT
BACK PANEL:
Follow
directions of right Left Panel, work 4 more rows before start center seam, as
in Left Back Panel.
Join
2 front panels at center seam, & 2 back panels at center seam.
Then
join back & front at side seams, take care to have all panels with right
side outside.
Finish
bottom of skirt with 6 rows of sc, keep work flat.
Finish
waistline & front panel with 2 rows of sc.
BLOUSE:
Starting
at neck edge, ch 142, with MC.
1st row:

Dc in 6th ch from hook, * ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next, rep from *
across [68 open sps], ch 5 turn.
2nd row:

Dc in 3rd dc of prev row [this makes a dec], 10 open sps, ch 1, dc
in same dc to form an inc, 1 inc in each of next 3 dc, 38 open sps, 1 inc in
each of next 4 dc, 10 open sps, omit ch 1, dc in 1st st of turn ch,
ch 5, turn.
3rd row:
Dc
in 3rd dc, 11 open sps, 1 inc in each of next 4 dc [1st
inc comes on top of 1st dc of 2nd inc of row below]. 42 open sps, 4 incs, 11 open sps, dc in 1st
st of turn ch.
4th row:
Drop
MC, attach CC on top of 1st dc, ch 9, 1 sc in 3rd dc, *
ch 9, sk 1 dc, sc in next, rep from * across, ch 1, turn.
5th row:
Sl
st in each ch of 1st loop of ch 9, * sk sc, sl st in each ch of next
loop, rep from * across.
6th row:
Fasten
of CC, & with MC sl st to center of 1st loop, * ch 3, 1 sc in
center of next loop, rep from * to last loop, ch 5, turn.
7th row:

Dc in 1st sc of prev row, ch 1, dc in 2nd ch of ch 3, ch 1, rep from *
until there are 12 open sps, 4 incs, 45 open sps, 4 incs, 12 open sps, ch 5,
turn.
8th row:
Dec
1 open sp at beg & end & make
usual 4 incs at shoulders. Patt is
composed of 4 MC rows & 2 CC rows.
Cont
to work in patt, inc 1 open sp at beg
& end of each of dc rows, instead of dec, & make usual shoulder incs,
until there are 7 CC stripes.
Then
work even on CC stripes until there are 10 CC stripes in all.
On
next row, which will be MC sc row, work over 23 loops, omit ch 3, sk 37 loops to be worked later for sleeve,
work over 46 loops for back, omit ch 3, skip next 37 loops, work rem 23
loops, In case there are more loops, add
to back section.
If fewer loops, take from front section.
Work
next 5 rows even at ends & underarm sections.
On
next sc row work as usual, but omit ch 3 bet loops for 5 loops under arms.
On
next 3 dc rows, work to within 4 open sps from end.
Loop
row is worked to within 2 open sps from end.
Next
sc row is even at ends with usual underarm decs.

Dc rows are worked to within 2 open sps from end, & last loop row is worked
to within 2 open sps.
Finish
around waist with MC, work in sc with ch 2 bet, so that front sections will be
slightly gathered to fit top of skirt.
With
MC work 1 row of sc up front edges, & dc over dc, omit ch 1, around neck
edge.
SLEEVES:
Attach
MC at underarm on right side of work in 1st loop where front is
joined to back, & work across in patt.
Cont
work in patt, dec 1 open sp at both ends in 3 dc rows, & make 3 incs instead of 4 in
center, until there are 7 CC stripes.
Then
finish with 4 MC rows worked even, & 1 row of dc over last row. Fasten off.
Work
other sleeve to correspond.
BUTTONS:
With
CC, ch 9, work 8 sc for 15 rows, sl st
the 2 short ends tog, leave sewing length & fasten off thread.
Make
8 buttons.
LOOPS:
Ch
23, sl st over ch & join ends.
Make
8 loops.
FINISHING:
Sew
buttons & loops to front panel as illustrated, making sure to have rows of
each in same direction.
Sew
blouse to skirt, with front panel overlapping blouse to fit.
From
wrong side, make a beading for elastic around waist, leave front panel
free. Attach MC to front panel, 1” above
waistline, ch 7, sc to skirt 1” from panel, ch 7, sc to blouse 1” from where
thread was attached, & cont around to other side of front panel.
BELT:
With
CC, ch 16, turn.
1st row:
Sc
in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each st of ch, ch 1, turn.
2nd row:
Sc
in sc across, ch 1, turn.
Rep
2nd row until belt meas 28” [or desired length].
With
2 strands of CC, ch 22, & work in sc for 20 rows.
Fold
piece with lines running across short way.
Then sl st around it.
Make
another square, sew squares to belt as illustrated, & fasten belt with snap
fasteners.
