Free Paattern - Vintage Evening Bolero #1105

Vintage Evening Bolero #1105

SIZE: Medium

MATERIALS:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY:  Dawn Sock & Sweater Yarn, or Dawn Braeburn sport yarn, or Dawn,, or clover Leaf Nylon
6 ozs Gray or color desired & 1 oz Buttercup, Article 700 for trim
64 Large Sequins
64 Small Beads
1 pr Knitting Needles #2
Plastic Crochet Hook # 2


GAUGE:
8 sts = 1”


Entire bolero is worked in garter st (k each row), 2 rows form ridge.
BACK: 
Starting at lower edge, cast on 110 sts & work in garter st for 1½ “.


NEXT ROW:  Inc 1 st at  beg & end of row.

Then work even in garter st inc 1 st on each side every 1½ “ until there are 118 sts on needle.


Work even until back meas 8 “ from  beg.


NEXT 2 ROWS:  Bind off 6 sts at beg of each row, then dec 1 st on each side every other row until 100 sts rem.

Work even until armhole meas 7½ “ (50 ridges) from 1st dec point.


NEXT ROW:  K across 32 sts & place on a holder for right front. Bind off next 36 sts for back of neck. On  rem 32 sts of left front work as follows:


1ST ROW:  Starting at neck edge K across 11 sts, turn.


2ND ROW:  Yo, k across 11 sts, turn.


3RD ROW:  K across 11 sts, k yo of prev row & next st tog, k across next 10 sts, turn.


4TH ROW:  Yo, k across 22 sts, turn.


5TH ROW:  K across 22 sts, k yo & next st tog, k to end of row.


6TH ROW:  K across row end at neck edge.

These 6 rows are rep for entire front.

There are 3 sections, 11 sts in 1st section at center front, 11 sts in 2nd section & 10 sts in 3rd section at armhole edge.

Rep last 6 rows twice.


19TH ROW:  Beg of 10th ridge—k 1, k & inc in next st, k across next 9 sts, turn.


20TH ROW:  Yo, k across 12 sts, turn.


21ST ROW:  K across 12 sts, k yo & next st tog, k & inc in next st, k across next 9 sts, turn.


22ND ROW:  Yo, k across 24 sts, turn. 


23RD ROW:  K across 24 sts, k yo & next st tog, k & inc in next st, k across 8 sts, turn.


24TH ROW:  K across row end at center front (35 sts).

There are 12 sts in 1st & 2nd section & 11 sts in 3rd section at armhole edge.

Cont in  above manner inc 1 st at  beg of every 10th ridge (4th patt) of 1st section, & 1 st in 2nd st of  2nd & 3rd sections, until there are 18 sts in each of first 2 sections & 17 sts in 3rd section (53 sts).

Discont  incs & work even in patt until there are 50 ridges in 3rd section for armhole, bind off.

RIGHT FRONT: 
Sl 32 sts from holder, attach Gray at neck edge & work to corres with left front.


EDGE:
With right side toward you attach Gray at neck edge, working down front, * yo hk, insert hk in end st of next ridge, pull lp thru, yo hk, insert in end st of next ridge, pull lp thru, yo hk & pull thru all 5 lps at one time, ch 1, rep from * down front, across lower edge, up opposite front & around neck line, fasten in first st, cut yarn.


Attach Butter­cup in ch 1 lp, sl st in same sp, * ch 1, sl st in next ch 1 lp, rep from * all around end with ch 1, join in sl st, cut yarn.

Work same edge around each armhole.

Sew Sequins in position as illustrated, fastening each sequin with a bead.
