1974 Filet Lace Top & Floppy Brim Hat Set #1412
MATERIALS:
Sirdar Gold Seal Courtelle 6-Ply, 25g Balls: Top - 7 [7] Balls; Hat – 2 Balls
1 Each Crochet Hook #3.50 & #3.00

MEASUREMENTS:
Fits Size = 31” [35”]
Length = 20”
Sleeves = 2 ½ ”

TENSION:
9 Sts & 5 Rows = 2” with #3.50 hook.
Terms are UK:
DC  [UK] = SC [USA]
TR [UK] = DC [USA]

NOTES ON GRAPH:
1 Row of squares = 1 row of crochet
For size 31: follow inside lines.
For size 35: follow outside lines.
Beg each row with 4 CH to count as 1 TR, 1 CH & finish each row with 1 CH, 1 TR into 3rd of 4 CH.

BACK:
Use #3.50 hk, make 74 [82] CH, 1 TR in 6th CH from hk, * 1 CH, sk 1 CH, 1 TR in next CH, rep from * to end – 35 [39] sps. [1st row of graph worked.]

Cont to work from graph, beg with 2nd row, to beg of sleeve at points marked O & Z.

At point Z, join in a separate length of yarn & make 10 CH. Fasten off.

At point O, work 13 CH, turn, 1 TR in 6th CH from hk then cont as graph to back neckline marked B.

Turn & work 1st side of neck to shoulder, marked X.

Fasten off & work other side.

FRONT:
Work as back, but divide for neck at point marked F on graph & work to shoulders at point marked Y.

Use flat seam, join underarm & shoulder seams.

Use #3.00 hk & with RS of work facing, work 2 rnds of DC around lower edge, then neckline & sleeve edges.

HAT:
Use single yarn, make 6 CH & join with sl st.

1ST RND: 1 CH, work 12 DC into circle, join with sl st.

2ND RND: 4 CH, * 1 TR in next DC, 1 CH, rep from * to end, join with sl st to 3rd of 4 CH – 12 sps.

3RD RND: 4 CH, * [1 TR, 1 CH, 1 TR] in next TR, 1 CH, 1 TR in next TR, 1 CH, rep from * to end, ending [1 TR, 1 CH, 1 TR] in last TR, 1 CH, join with sl st to 3rd of 4 CH – 18 sps.

Rep last rnd once – 27 sps.

5TH RND: 4 CH, * [1 TR, 1 CH, 1 TR] in next TR, 1 CH, 1 TR, in next TR, 1 CH, rep from * to end, join with sl st to 3rd of 4 CH – 40 sps.
