Vintage 1944 Classic Envelope Bag #1046

MATERIALS:
Jack Frost Cordet – 5, 75 yd tubes
Interchangeable with Soutache, Ribbon Braid, or double strands of Plastic

Size #5 White Crochet Hook

BAG:
1^ST ROW:  Ch 61.  Work 1 sc in 2^nd ch from hk & each rem ch [60 sts].  Ch 3, turn.

2^ND ROW:  * Sk 1 st.  Work 1 dc in each of next 3 sts, 1 dc in sk st; rep from & across row [15 patts].  Ch 3, turn.

Rep 2^nd row for 38 rows [18”].

FINISHING:

Work 1 row of sc around 4 sides.

Fold up 8” & join with 1 row of sc on each side.

Turn down rem 2” for flap. 

MISS JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:

[Before joining finished pattern pieces]

Make paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.

Cut lining according to paper patt & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag. 

Sew in zipper [if desired].

Attach ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].

Note:  Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to give shape extra support.
