Quick & easy to
create, this classic carryall will become a season-spanning favorite!
MATERIALS:

& P Coats or Clarks ONT Pearl Cotton, size 3, 18 balls of Ecru

Bone Crochet Hook

Bone or Plastic Rings 1 ½”
GAUGE:

Use 3 threads throughout.
BAG: BOTTOM:
Starting
at center, ch 28.
1ST
RND: 3 Sc in 2nd ch from
hook, sc in 25 ch, 3 sc in last ch; then, working along opposite side of
starting chain, make sc in 25 ch.
2ND
RND: Sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc
in 27 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in 26 sc.
Mark
last st of each rnd throughout to insure proper shaping.
3RD
TO 9TH RNDS: * Sc in each sc
to center sc of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc. Rep from * once more, sc in each rem ch.
Mark
the center 5 sts on each edge bet points with pins.
10TH
RND: * Sc in each sc to center sc of
next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each sc to the 5 pin-marked sts, [2
sc in next sc, sc in next sc] twice; 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * once more; sc in each rem sc.
11TH
RND: Rep 3rd rnd. Break off.
SIDE
[MAKE 2]:
Starting
at center, ch 21.
1ST
RND: 3 sc in 2nd ch from
hook, sc in 18 ch, 3 sc in last ch; then, working along opposite side of
starting chain, make sc in 18 ch.
2ND
RND: * 3 Sc in next sc, sc in next sc, 3
sc in next sc, sc in 18 sc. Rep from *
around.
3RD
RND: Sc in next sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc

4TH
TO 10TH RNDS: * Sc in each sc
to center sc of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc. Rep from * 3 more times; sc in each rem sc.
11TH
RND: Sc in each sc to center sc of next
3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc, * sc in each sc to center sc of next 3-sc group,
5 sc in center sc. Rep from * once more;
sc in each sc to center of next 3-sc group, 3 sc in center sc, sc in each rem
sc.
12TH
TO 18TH RNDS: Work same as 4th
rnd, only making 5 sc in center sc of each 5-sc group.
At
end of 18th rnd, break off.
The edge bet the 5-sc corners is top edge.
HANDLE:
Ch

1ST
ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hook,
sc in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
2ND
ROW: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn.
Rep
2nd row until piece measures 36”.
Fold
piece in half the long way & work sc thru both thicknesses of long
edge. Break off.
Make
3 tucks in center of Bottom & sew in place.
For
bottom lining, cut 2 pieces of cardboard each slightly smaller than
Bottom.
Cover
one side of each piece with felt, place them together & overcast around
edge.
Cut
a strip of felt 6 ¾” wide & long enough to go around bottom lining
[allowing 1” overlap].
Seam
narrow edges; then sew lower edge to bottom lining.
Join
edges of Sides by working sc thru both thicknesses.
Join
lower edge of side to Bottom in same way.
Slip
lining inside & whip top edges together.
Sew
zipper along center of opening.
Sew
rem of top edges together.
ZIPPER
PULL:
Ch
4. Join with sl st.
1ST
RND: 10 Sc in ring.
2ND
RND: 2 Sc in each sc around. Ch 5, break off.
Slip
end of ch-5 thru zipper pull & fasten at base of chain.
RING
LOOP:
Ch
7. Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc
in each ch across. Break off.
Slip
this piece thru ring & sew ends to end of top edge of bag.
Make
another piece same as this & sew to other end.
Slip
Handle thru rings & sew ends together.
