Vintage 1960s Sleeveless Lace Dress & Jacket #1259
For a beautiful summer outfit, crochet this sleeveless cotton dress & matching casual cover-up. Special features – the elegant tie belt & three-quarter sleeved jacket.

DRESS:
Bust = 34” [37”;40”]
Hips = 36” [39”;42”]
Length to Shoulder = 36” [37”;38”]
JACKET:
Bust = 34” [37”;40”]
Length to Shoulder = 21” [22”;23”]
Sleeve Seam = 13” [13 ½”;14”]

MATERIALS:
DRESS:
Coats & Clarks ONT Speed-Cro-Sheen: 13 [14;16] Balls
JACKET:
Coats & Clarks ONT Speed-Cro-Sheen: 10 [11;12] Balls
1 Crochet Hook #D

GAUGE/TENSION:
5 Loops & 10 Rows = 4”

NOTE:
Abbreviations are in UK Terms:
SS = SL ST; DC = SC; HTRC = HDC; TRC = DC; DTRC = TRC

DRESS:
BACK:
CH 95 [103;111].

1ST ROW: Into 5th CH from hk, work 1DC, CH3, 1DC into same st, * sk CH3, work 1DC, CH3, 1DC all into next CH, rep from * end with CH1, sk CH1, 1DC in last CH. Turn. = 23[25;27] lps.

2ND ROW: CH3, work 5DC into each CH3 lp, end with 1DC in turning CH. Turn.

3RD ROW: * Work 1DC, CH3, 1DC all into 3rd of 5DC gr on prev row, rep from * end with 1DC in turning CH. Turn.

The 2nd & 3rd rows form patt. 

Cont in patt until work meas 29”[29 ½”;30”] from beg, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE ARMHOLES:
NEXT ROW: SS over 1st 2 lps, CH3, patt to last 2 lps, 1DC in sp before next lp, turn.

NEXT ROW: Patt to end.

NEXT ROW: SS over 1st lp, CH3, patt to last lp, 1DC in sp before next lp, turn = 17[19;21] lps.

Cont without shaping until armholes meas 4 ½”[5”;5 ½”] from beg, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE NECK:
NEXT ROW: Patt over 4[4;5] lps, turn & leave rem sts unworked.

Cont in patt until armhole meas 7”[7 ½”;8”] from beg, end with 3rd row. Fasten off.

Sk 1st 9[11;11] lps, attach yarn to rem sts & patt over last 4[4;5] lps.

Compl to corres to 1st side.

FRONT:
Work as given for back.

BELT:
CH approx 54” long.

Work 1 row SC along CH. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Work 2 rnds SC around neck & armhole edges.

Work 2 rnds SC around lower edge, working 3SC into each lp & 1SC bet 2DC of 1st row.

JACKET:
BACK:
Work as given for dress, until work meas 14” [14 ½”;15”] from beg, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE ARMHOLES:
NEXT ROW: SS over 1st 2 lps, CH3, patt to last 2 lps, 1DC in sp before next lp, turn.

NEXT ROW: Patt to end.

NEXT ROW: SS over 1st lp, CH3, patt to last lp, 1DC in sp before next lp, turn.

Cont in patt until armholes meas 7”[7 ½”;8”] from beg, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE NECK & SHOULDERS:
NEXT ROW: Patt over 1st 5[5;6] lps, turn & work 1 more row on these sts. Fasten off.

Sk 7[9;9] lps in center, attach yarn to rem sts & patt over last 5[5;6] lps, turn & work 1 more row. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT:
CH 47[51;55].

Work in patt as for dress back = 11[12;13] lps.

Cont in patt until work meas same as back to underarm, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE ARMHOLE:
NEXT ROW: SS over 1st 2 lps, CH3, patt to end. Turn.

NEXT ROW: Patt to end. Turn.

NEXT ROW: SS over 1st lp, CH3, patt to end. Turn = 8[9;10] lps.

Cont without shaping until armhole meas 4 ½”[5”;5 ½”] from beg, end at armhole edge.

SHAPE NECK:
NEXT ROW: Patt to last 2 lps, 1DC in sp before next lp, turn.

NEXT ROW: Patt to end. Turn.

NEXT ROW: Patt to last lp, 1DC in sp before last lp, turn.

Rep last 2 rows 0[1;1] times more.

Cont without shaping until armhole meas same as back to shoulder, end with 3rd row. Fasten off.

RIGHT FRONT:
Work same as left front, reverse all shaping.

SLEEVES:
Work 9 rows patt.

NEXT ROW: CH3, 2DC in same place, work 5DC in each lp to end, 3DC in turning CH. Turn.

NEXT ROW: CH3, 1DC on next 2DC, work 1DC, CH3, 1DC all into 3rd of next 5DC gr, patt to end, end with 2DC, then 1DC in turning CH. Turn.

NEXT ROW: CH3, 2DC in each of next 2DC, work 5DC in each lp, end with 2DC in each of last 2DC, 1DC in turning CH. Turn.

NEXT ROW: CH3, work 1DC, CH3, 1DC all into 2nd DC, patt to last 5DC, work 1DC, CH3, 1DC all into 3rd DC, 1DC in turning CH. Turn. [1lp inc at each side].

Work 2 rows without shaping.

Rep last 6 rows once more = 17[18;19] lps.

Cont without shaping until sleeve meas 13 [13 ½”;14”] from beg, end with 3rd row.

SHAPE CAP:
Dec 2 lps at each end of next row.

Work 3 rows without shaping.

Dec 1 lp at each end of next & foll 4th row, then dec 1 lp each end every other row 3[4;4] times. = 5[4;5] lps. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
Join shoulder seams & sew in sleeves.

Join side & sleeve seams.

Work 2 rows SC around lower edge & sleeves as given for dress hem.

Work 1 row SC up right front, around neck & down left front, turn & work 2 patt rows around these edges. Fasten off.

Press seams.
