Quick & easy to crochet this lovely doll…antebellum charm with a matching hat & panties…a beautiful favorite to keep or gift to that special person!

MATERIALS: 

American Thread Co, Puritan Crochet Cotton Art 40, 1 ball each white & red, or

American Thread Co, Deluxe Crochet Cotton Art 346, 1 ball each white & red, or

American Thread Co, Star Pearl Cotton Art 90, size 5, 4 balls white & 3 balls red

#6 & #7 Steel Crochet Hook

1 Doll, 7” or 8”

1 ½ yds Narrow Ribbon

DRESS: 

SKIRT: 

With white & #7 hk, ch 38 loosely, trc in 5^th st from hk, 2 trc in each rem st of ch, join in 4^th st of ch.

2^ND RND:  Ch 4 [counts as 1 trc] & working in back lp of sts only, trc in next trc, * ch 3, 1 trc in each of next 2 trc, rep from * all around, ch 3, join in 4^th st of ch.

3^RD RND:  Work thru both lps of sts for rem of dress, ch 4, trc in next trc, * ch 4, 1 trc in each of next 2 trc, rep from * all round, ch 4, join, cut thread.

4^TH RND:  Attach red in next lp, ch 4, 4 trc in same sp, drop lp from hk, insert in 4^th st of ch, pick up lp & pull thru, ch 1, popcorn st in same lp [popcorn st--5 trc in same sp, drop lp from hk, insert in top of 1^st trc, pick up lp & pull thru], * ch 5 & in next lp work 2 popcorn sts with ch 1 bet, rep from * all around, join in 1^st popcorn st, cut thread.

5^TH RND:  Attach white in lp, ch 4, 3 trc in same sp, * ch 4, 4 trc in next lp, rep from * all around, ch 4, join in 4^th st of ch.

6^TH RND:  Ch 4, 1 trc in each of next 3 trc, trc in next lp, * ch 4, trc in same lp, 1 trc in each of next 4 trc, trc in next lp, rep from * all around, end rnd with ch 4, trc in same lp, join in 4^th st of ch.

7^TH RND:  Ch 4, 1 trc in each of next 4 trc, trc in next lp, * ch 4, trc in same lp, 1 trc in each of next 6 trc, trc in next lp, rep from * all around, end rnd with ch 4, trc in same lp, trc in next trc, join in 4^th st of ch, cut thread.

8^TH RND:  With red, work same as 4^th rnd, but have ch 8 bet popcorn st groups, cut thread.

9^TH RND:  Attach white in lp, ch 4, 9 trc in same sp, * ch 4, 10 trc in next lp, rep from * all around, ch 4, join in 4^th st of ch.

10^TH RND:  Ch 4, 1 trc in each of next 9 trc, trc in next lp, * ch 4, trc in same lp, 1 trc in each of next 10 trc, trc in next lp, rep from * all around, end round with ch 4, trc in same lp, join in 4^th st of ch.

11^TH RND:  Ch 4, 7 work 1 trc in each trc & 1 trc, ch 2, 1 trc in each ch 4 lp, join, cut thread.

12^TH RND:  Attach red in ch 2 lp, * ch 3, 4 trc in same sp, drop lp from hk, insert in 3^rd st of ch, pick up lp & pull thru, ch 1, 5 trc in same sp, drop lp from hk, insert in 1^st trc, pick up lp & pull thru, ch 3, 1 sc in each of next 14 trc, sc in next lp, rep from * all around, join, cut thread.

BODICE: 

Attach white in 1^st st at top of skirt, ch 3, 1 dc in each dc, dec 6 sts evenly spaced [29 sts]--to dec:  yo hk, insert in next st, pull thru & work off 2 lps, rep from * once, yo & pull thru all lps at one time--ch 3, turn.

2^ND ROW:  1 Dc in each st, ch 3, turn.

3^RD ROW:  * 1 Dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * across row, ch 3, turn.

4^TH ROW:  * 1 Dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * across row, ch 3, turn.

5^TH ROW:  1 Dc in each of next 8 dc, ch 8, sk 3 dc, 1 dc in each of next 17 dc, ch 8, sk 3 dc, 1 dc in each of next 9 sts, ch 3, turn.

6^TH ROW:  RUFFLE:  Work in back lp of sts, 2 dc in same sp, * 3 dc in next dc, rep from * across row, cut thread.

Attach white at neckline & work row of sc around neck & around back opening, cut thread.

Attach red in 1^st st of ruffle & work 1 sc in each dc of ruffle, cut thread.

Place on doll & tie tog with small bow at back of neck.

Lace ribbon thru waistline & tie in bow at front.

HAT: 

With red & #6 hk, ch 10, join to form ring, ch 4, 11 trc in ring, ch 4, turn.

2^ND ROW:  2 Trc in each st, ch 4, turn.

3^RD ROW:  1 Trc in each of next 11 trc, sl st in next trc, 1 trc in each rem st, without cutting thread, work row of sc down side of hat, in ring at lower edge & up opposite side, cut thread.

Lace ribbon thru 1^st row of hat & tie under chin as shown in photo.

PANTIES: 

With white & #6 hk, ch 38 loosely to fit around waistline, dc in 4^th st from hk, 1 dc in each rem st of ch, ch 3, turn.

2^ND ROW:  1 Dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, * 1 dc in each of next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from * across row, end with 1 dc in last st, join in 3^rd st of 1^st ch 3.

3^RD & 4^TH ROWS:  Ch 3 [counts as 1 dc], 1 dc in each dc, join in 3^rd st of ch.

5^TH ROW:  Ch 3, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc, sk 21 dc, 1 dc in each of next 10 dc, join.

6^TH ROW:  * Ch 3, sc in next st, rep from * all around, cut thread. 

Attach thread at crotch & finish other leg in same manner.

Work row of sc around top of panties, working loosely, then work row of sc around side opening, cut thread.

Tie with ribbon on side.

If desired, make an underskirt of crinoline [net] & taffeta.
