Vintage 1950 Delicate Lace Dolman Sleeve Jacket #962

Dolman sleeves give this bed jacket, worked in delicate pattern stitch, a new & versatile look.  Season spanning it will take you from day to evening, creatively work it in a variety of yarns to go from casual to elegant, & it is sure to become one of your favorite patterns,

SIZE:
Medium

MATERIALS:
Bernat Nylon, 10 [1-oz] balls
Steel crochet hook #3
8 Buttons

GAUGE:
9 sl st = 1”
11 rows sl st = 1”

JACKET:
Working along length of cuff, ch 21.  SL st in 2nd ch from hk & in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.

NEXT ROW:  WORKING IN BACK LP ONLY,  sl st in each sl st across [20 sl st].  Ch 1, turn.

Rep this row until there are 58 rows in all [29 ridges].

Now working along side of cuff in ends of rows, ch 7, tr at base of ch-7, * sk 3 rows along cuff, sc in next row, sk 3 rows, in next row [tr, ch 3] twice, tr.  Rep from * 5 more times; sk 3 rows, sc in next row, sk 3 rows, in next row work tr, ch 3, tr.  Turn.

NEXT ROW:  Sk 1st tr & ch 3, sc in next tr, * in next sc work [tr, ch 3] twice, tr [1 group st made]; sk next tr & ch-3, sc in next tr.  Rep from * across, ending with sc in 4th ch of turning ch [7 group sts across row].  Ch 7, turn.

FOLLOWING ROW:  Tr at base of ch-7, * sk one tr & ch-3, sc in next tr, in next scc work [tr, ch 3] twice, tr.  Rep from * across, ending with tr, ch 3, tr in last sc.  Turn.

Rep these 2 rows for patt.

Work in patt inc 1 group st at beg of every row until there are 127 group sts across row.

Now work even until piece meas 18”, meas from 1st patt st row.  Break off.

Turn work, ch 51 & without breaking off, cont across work in patt, ch 51, turn.  Sl st in 2nd ch from hk & in next 49 ch [front waistband].  Ch 1, turn.  * WORKING IN BACK LOOP, sl st in each sl st across.  Ch 1, turn.  Rep from * once; cont across work in patt, sl st in 50 ch [back waistband].  Ch 1, turn.  * WORKING IN BACK LOOP, sl st in 50 st.  Ch 1, turn.  Rep from * once, cont across row in patt.

Cont working in this manner, having 3 rows of sl st bet every patt row on each side until there are 52 rows of sl st ]26 ridges], ending at back waistband.

Work across sl sts as before, work across 8 group sts, turn.

Working over these sts only for back, cont patt as established until there are 84 rows of sl st in all for back, ending at front edge.

Ch 131 for front.  Sl st along 50 ch, work in patt over rem of ch, working in every 5th ch.

Then work along back & front to corres to other side.

When there are 136 sl st rows in all for back, start working other sleeve, dec group sts to corres to those inc on other sleeve.

Break off when sleeve meas 18”.

Work cuff same as for other side & sew to edge of sleeve.

On right side of work, attach yarn at bottom of right front edge.  Work sl st in each st around front & neck, ending at left front edge.  Ch 1, turn.

Work sl st as before until there are 4 rows in all ending at right front edge.

*Sl st in 12 st, ch 2, sk 2 st [buttonhole made].  Rep from * 7 times more; cont across row in sl st.

On next row, work sl st in each st & ch across.

Work 5 more rows sl st.

Sew sleeves & side seams.

Attach buttons.
