Vintage 1940s Butterfly
Bow Clutch #231
Quick & easy to
create, this butterfly bow clutch will become a season-spanning favorite…you‘ll
want to recreate in many colors!
MATERIALS:

large spool Black Corde
3
- 75 yd spools Multi-Colored Corde
[Interchangeable
with Soutache, Ribbonette or Straw]

Bone Crochet Hook
Zipper
BAG:
1ST
ROW: Ch 64, work 2 dc in 3rd
ch from hook, work 1 dc in rem sts.
2ND
ROW: Ch 3, turn, work 1 dc in 2nd
st [always work back half of st] then work 1 dc in each st.
FOLLOWING
ROWS: Rep 2nd row 18
times.
Join
yarn in one corner, work in sc for 3 rows working back half of st putting 3 sc
in each corner.
Make
other piece same.
GUSSETT:
Ch
6, sk 1 st, work 1 sc in next 5 st, ch 1, turn.
Work
1 sc in each st.
Work
back half of st to fit 3 sides of bag.
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece & lay aside to be used later.
BOW:
Ch
68.

Work 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, 3 in next, work 1 sc in each of next 10 sts,
sk 2 sts, rep from * to end of row.
Ch
1, turn, sk 1 st, take back half of st.
Work * 1 sc in each of next 10 sts, 3 sc in next st. work 1 sc in each of the 10 sts, sk 2
sts. Work 1 sc in each of the next 10
sts, rep from * to end of row.
Work
2nd row for 20 rows.
Make
other bow the same.

1 row of sc in Black, 1 row in Multi, 1 row of sc in Black.
Join
the gusset to 3 sides of bag on wrong side with right side facing you.
Work
1 sc in Multi on 4 sides of bag.
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Insert
Zipper.
Note:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted
between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
