Free Patterns - Vintage 1940’s Braid Snood #1093

Vintage 1940’s Braid Snood #1093

MATERIALS:
J&P COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 2 balls of Span­ish Red. 
J. & P. COATS or CLARK'S ONT PEARL COT­TON, size 5, 1 ball each of Green &Black

Bone Crochet Hook #6

Divide each color into 4 equal parts and use 4 threads throughout.

HEADBAND : 
With Black, ch 2. 

1ST RND: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 

2ND RND: Sc in each sc around.

Repeat 2nd rnd until piece measures 13 inches. Break off.

Make 2 more pieces same as this, one Red and one Green.

Make a braid with these 3 pieces and sew each end to prevent raveling.

SNOOD: 
With Red, ch 36. 

1ST ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across (35 sc). Ch 4, turn. 

2ND ROW: Dc in next sc, * ch 1, dc in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 4, turn.

3RD ROW: Dc in next dc, * ch 1, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across ending with ch 1, dc in 3rd st of turning chain. Ch 5, turn. 

4TH TO 10TH ROWS INCL.: Dc in next dc, * ch 2, dc in next dc. Repeat from * across ending as before. Ch 5, turn. 

11TH, 12TH AND 13TH ROWS: Same as 3rd row.

At end of 13th row, ch 1, turn. 

14TH ROW: Sc in each dc and each sp across. Ch 1, turn. 

15TH ROW: Sc in each sc across. Break off.

Shirr side edges of Snood and sew securely to each end of Headband.
