A skillful needlewoman
will swiftly crochet this delightful lace cap…Delightful, addition to
the discerning woman‘s wardrobe!
Materials:
3
Balls Ecru Cordonnet No. 15.
#5 Steel Crochet Hook
#5 Steel Crochet Hook
CAP
BAND:
Ch
12 & join in ring. Ch 3, 15 dc in
ring.
2nd row:
Turn,
ch 3, 1 dc each in first 3 dc, picked up on double thread. * Ch 4, 1 dc each in next 3 dc, & rep
from * across row, when there will be 5 groups in all, with 4 ch lps bet
them. Turn.

Sc in center dc of 1st group, picked up on double thread ; 7 sc in
ch lp. Work in this way Over each lp
& each group excepting final one.
After 7 sc have been worked in final lp ch 8 & catch in end of
row. Turn.
Ch
3, 15 dc in this new ring, & rep from beg of 2nd row until 2nd
shell is completed.
The
3rd shell is worked in same way, but at end of 2nd row it
is caught to 3rd scallop of 1st shell.
The
4th shell is caught to 2nd shell, & each shell is
caught to 2nd preceding shell in same manner.
Cont
in this way until there are 17 shells along each edge, & length is
sufficient for band, joining last 2 shells to first 2 shells.
If
work has been done too tight or an extra large band is required, more shells
may be added, as needed.
Beg
ch lps which form crown of cap in 1st sc of 2nd scallop
of last shell worked on inner edge of band.
Ch
9, 1 sc in center of 1st scallop of same shell, & work ch lps in
this manner, catching at center of each scallop along inner edge of band until
1st scallop of 10th shell has been worked into. Sk 1st sc of next scallop &
catch in next, turn, ch 9, 1 sc in 1st lp, * ch 9, 1 sc in next,
& rep from * across row. At end ch
5, & catch to band in 2nd st from sc with which row was started.
Work
back & forth in ch lps in this manner, at end of each row catching to 2nd
sc along band, until ends of rows have been caught to 4 shells of band.
Ch
5, catch in 1st lp, ch 5, catch in center of 1st scallop
of un-worked part of band, & crisscross from lps to band, joining them,
until 8th scallop of band has been worked into.
Count
off lps to be caught to 8 scallops at other end of row, & catch lps bet to
center scallops of band, catching in each sc or as necessary to join all
lps.
If
number of shells in band has been changed, it will be necessary to divide
additional scallops proportionately bet front & back of cap.

Ch
8, join in ring & make 15 sc in ring.
2nd rnd:
Ch
3, 1 sc in 3rd st along ring, & rep until there are 5 ch lps
around ring.
3rd rnd:
1
Sc, 5 dc & 1 sc in each lp around ring.
4th rnd:
1
Sc in each sc of 2nd rnd, working over 3rd rnd, 5 ch sts
bet sc, carried behind shells of 3rd rnd.
5th rnd:
Like
3rd but with 7 dc in each
shell.
6th
rnd like 4th, but with 7 ch in each lp.
Cont
in this way in each rd making 1 extra dc in each shell & 1 extra ch in each
lp, until 7 shell rnds in all have been made. Fasten off & sew to cap.
drop ornaments:
One
drop is worked at center of each scallop of 5th shell at each side
from center of front.
Catch
thread in scallop, ch 7, & in 2nd ch from hk make 6 sc, then
work 2nd rnd of 2 sc in each st, keeping wrong side of sts out.
Make
2 rnds of 1 sc in each st, & 2 rnds of 1 sc in every 2nd
st.
Ch
7, make 2nd oval drop like that just finished, & fasten
off.
All
drop ornaments are made in same way.
