Vintage Girl’s Pineapple Lace Dress #C104

Quick & easy to crochet this charming dress with it‘s pineapple lace patterned yoke & accented with lovely ribbon trim…perfect for many occasions!

SIZE: 
Directions are for size 4 to 6. 
Larger sizes may be achieved by increasing size of hook & weight of yarn.

MATERIALS: 
J & P COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN: 
Size 4, 3 balls of White, or 4 balls of color; Size 6, 1 ball extra.
#2 & #7 Steel Crochet Hooks
1½ yds Narrow Velvet Ribbon.
4 Small Pearl Buttons.

GAUGE: 
2 shells = 1½”;   
4 rnds of shells = 1½”

DRESS:
Start at neck with #7 hk, ch 115 to meas 14½”.

1st row:  Sc in 2nd ch from hk, * ch 3, sk 2 ch, sc in next ch, ch 3, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch. Rep from * across, end row with ch 3, sk 2 ch, sc in last ch (45 lps).  Turn.

2nd row:  Sl st in 1st lp, ch 5, dc in same lp (shell), * ch 1, sk next lp, make 11 dtr in next lp, ch 1, sk 1 lp, in next lp make dc, ch 2 & dc (shell).  Rep from * across.  Turn.

3rd row:  Sl st in 1st  ch-2 sp, ch 5, dc in same sp (shell over shell), * ch 2, sk 1 dtr, (dc in next dtr, ch 1) 8 times; dc in next dtr, ch 2, in next ch-2 sp (bet dcs) make dc, ch 2 & dc (shell over shell).  Rep from * across.  Turn.

4th row:  Sl st in ch-2 sp, shell over shell, * ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp (bet dcs); (ch 3, sc in next ch-1 sp) 7 times; ch 3, shell over next shell.  Rep from * across.  Turn.

5th row:  Sl st in sp, shell over shell, * ch 3, sk ch-3 below, sc in next lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) 6 times; ch 3, shell over next shell.  Rep from * across.  Turn.

6th row:  Sl st in sp, shell over shell, * ch 3, sk ch-3, sc in next lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) 5 times; ch 3, in next shell make 3 dc with ch-1 bet.  Rep from * across, end with shell over shell.  Turn.

7th row:  Sl st in sp, shell over shell, * ch 3, sk ch-3, sc in next lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) 4 times; ch 3, in next ch-1 sp make dc, ch 1 & dc; ch 1, in next ch-1 sp make dc, ch 1 & dc.  Rep from * across, end with shell over shell.  Turn.

8th row:  Sl st in sp, ch 5, in same sp make dc, ch 1 & dc, * ch 3, sk ch-3, sc in next lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) 3 times; ch 3, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc, ch 1, dc in next ch-1, ch 1, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc.  Rep from * across, end with 3 dc with ch 1 bet in last shell.  Turn.

9th row:  Sl st in sp, ch 5, dc in same sp, ch 1, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc, * ch 3, sk ch-3, sc in next lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) twice; ch 3, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc; (ch 1, dc in next sp) twice; ch 1, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc.  Rep from * across.  Turn.

10th row:  Sl st in sp, ch 5, dc in next sp, ch 1, in next shell make dc, ch 1 & dc; * ch 3, sk ch 3, sc in next lp, ch 3, sc in next lp, ch 3, shell over next shell, (ch 1, dc in next sp) 3 times; ch 3, shell over next shell.  Rep from * across.  Turn.

11th row:  Sl st in next sp, ch 5, (dc in next sp, ch 1) twice; shell over next shell, * ch 1, in next ch-3 lp make 4 tr with ch 1 bet, ch 1, shell over shell, (ch 1, dc in next sp) 4 times; ch 1, shell over shell.  Rep from * across.  Ch 3, turn.

12th row:  * Dc in next sp, dc in next st.  Rep from * across (267 sts, count turning ch as 1 dc).  Join with sl st in top st of 1st ch-3.

Change to #2 hk & hereafter work in rnds.
1st rnd:  Ch 4, in same place as sl st make 3 dc with ch 1 bet, * sk 2 sts, in next st make 4 dc with ch 1 bet (shell).  Rep from * around.  Join last shell with sl st in 3rd st of 1st ch-4 made (89 shells).

2nd rnd:  Sl st to center ch-1 of 1st shell, ch 4, in same place make 3 dc with ch 1 bet; * in center ch-1 of next shell make 4 dc with ch 1 bet (shell over shell).  Rep from * around.  Join.

Rep last rnd until 10 rnds of shells are completed for size 4, or 13 rnds for size 6.

Next rnd:  Work across 14 shells, sk next 16 shells (sleeve), work across next 29 shells, sk next 16 shells (other sleeve), work across rem 14 shells.  Join.

Work around over these 57 shells until piece meas 13” from bottom of yoke for size 4, 16” from bottom of yoke for size 6, or length desired.  Join & fasten off.

LEFT SLEEVE: 
Attach thread at left underarm, & with #2 hk work 3 rnds of shells same as skirt.

Change to #7 hk & work sc around, holding in to fit.

Work 5 more rnds of sc. Fasten off.


RIGHT SLEEVE: 
Attach thread at right underarm & with #2 hk work to correspond with Left Sleeve.

NECK BEADING: 
Attach thread at neck edge at back opening & with #7 hk, ch 4, in 1st sp make 3 dc with ch 1 bet, * sk 1 sp, in next sp make 4 dc with ch 1 bet.  Rep from * along neck edge, then work sc along both sides of back opening, make four ch-4 buttonloops evenly down right edge. Fasten off.

Sew on buttons. 

Run ribbon through beading at neck.
