3. Join 6 sc in ring, 2 sc in each st.
1ST RND:
* 1 Sc
in next st, 2 sc in next st, rep from * 5 more times.
2ND
RND: * 1 Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next
st, rep from * 5 more times.
3RD
RND: * 1 Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next
st, rep from * 5 more times.
Cont
to work in above manner, having 1 st more bet each inc every rnd until there
are 158 sts, approx 25 rows.
Make
other piece same.
HANDLE
& GUSSET:
Ch
10 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in each st. * Ch
1, turn, 1 sc in each st, rep from * for 40”.
Hold
Gusset toward you, leaving out 42 sts for zipper opening on each circle.
Work
1 row of sc.
Sew
handle to one end.
HAT:
Work
same as beg of bag until there are 180 sc.
Place
2 markers to indicate half of hat.
Working
over these sts, dec every other st.
Work
1 row even on all sts.
Working
from marker to marker, dec every 6th st until there are 84 sts
around entire hat.
Work
st for st for 18 more rows.

JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
Make
paper patt for each crocheted piece before joinings & lay aside to be used
later.
Cut
lining according to paper patts & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag. Sew in zipper
[if desired].
Note:
Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted
between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.
