Vintage Classic Halo & Handbag Set #181

Quick & easy to create, this classic duo will become a season-spanning favorite!

MATERIALS: 
BAG: 
3 spools Mary Lamb Brocade
1 Lining #627 
[If lining insert cannot be purchased, instructions are included to create your own lining.]
#4 Crochet Hook
HALO:           
2 spools Mary Lamb Brocade


BAG: 
Ch 62 sts, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook & in each ch st.

1ST ROW:  ** Ch 4 turn, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, 7 dc in same st.  Close shell with sl st, ch 4, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, ch 4, sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, shell in same st.  * Ch 4, sk 2 sts 1 sc in next st, rep from * until there are 15 sps.  Rep from ** across row.

2ND ROW:  Ch 4, sc into sp, holding shell in back. 

Rep these 2 rows, having 12 rows of shells & 12 rows of spaces.

Make another piece in same manner. 

Join tog on wrong side of work with sc.

HANDLE & GUSSET: 
Ch 19”.  Sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st & in each ch. 

Work on opposite side of ch.  1 Sc in each st. 

Cont to work around in this manner for 6 rows. 

Work back to 2” of handle, turn. 

Work around to other side of handle, work back to 2”, turn. 

Cont to work back & forth on these 2” for 2 rows.

Work other end same. 

Work 1 row of sc around entire handle. 

Work another piece in same manner.

With right side facing you, join bag tog with sc. 

Knot top of handle tog.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN LINING INSERT:
Make paper patt for each crocheted piece & lay aside to be used later.

Cut lining according to paper patts & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag.

Note:  Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between bag & lining to give shape of bag extra support.

HALO: 
Ch 13 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, 1 sc in each ch.  * Ch 4 turn. 

Sk 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, shell in same st, rep from * to end of row.  Ch 4 turn. 

1 Sc in each sp, holding shell to back of work. 

Cont to work in above manner, having 20 rows of shells & 20 rows of spaces.  Work 5 rows of sps on each side. 

Work 1 row of sc around entire Halo. 

Drape Halo to suit individual taste.
