Vintage 1950s Floral Lace Gloves #638


Quick & easy to crochet these exquisite lace gloves…au courant, season-spanning, wardrobe favorites!

Materials:
J & P Coats or Clarks ONT Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Size 50 - Small Ball: J & P Coats - 3 Balls of White,
OR
Clarks ONT - 5 Balls of White
#12 Steel Crochet Hook

SIZE: 
Medium. 

Left Glove: 
Starting at wrist edge, ch 156.  Join with sl st to form ring, being careful not to twist chain.

1st Rnd:  Ch 3, dc in next 3 ch, * ch 2, sk 2 ch, dc in next 4 ch, ch 4, sk 3 ch, dc in next 4 ch. Rep from * around, ending with ch 4.  Join (mark this as outer edge of Glove).

2nd Rnd:  Sl st across next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 dc, ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

3rd Rnd:  Sl st across next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, * ch 4, sc in next sp, sc in next sc, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

4th Rnd:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next sp, ch 4, sk-1 sc, sc in next sc, ch 4, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

5th Rnd:  Sl st across next 2 dc, ch 3, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next sp, ch 4, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

2nd to 5th rnds incl constitute patt.

6th, 7th & 8th Rnds: Work in patt.

9th Rnd:  Work in patt to within last patt group on rnd, ending with 2 dc in sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 4.  Join to top of starting ch (1 patt dec on rnd).

10th Rnd:  Rep 2nd rnd, ending with ch 4, sk 2 dc, sc bet next 2 dc, ch 4.  Join.

11th & 12th Rnds:  Rep rnds 3 & 4.

13th Rnd:  Rep rnd 9 (another patt dec). 

Work in patt until 29 rnds are completed.

Shape Thumb:
1st Rnd:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, (ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 dc) twice; ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice; in next sp make dc, ch 1 & dc; (ch 1, dc in next dc) twice; ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4.  Complete rnd in patt.  Join.

2nd Rnd:  Ch 7, sc in next sp, sc in next sc, sc in next sp, ch 4, (sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 4, sc in next sp, sc in next sc, sc in next sp, ch 4) twice; 2 dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 4, sk 1 sp, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 1 sp, 2 dc in next sp, ch 4, sc in next sp.  Complete rnd in patt.  Join to 3rd ch of ch-7 (1 patt inc on rnd).

3rd & 4TH RndS:  Work in patt around.

5th Rnd:  Ch 3, dc in next dc, (ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 2 dc) twice; * ch 4, sc in next sp, ch 4, sk 2 dc, (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice; in next sp make (dc, ch 1) twice; (dc in next dc, ch 1) twice.  Rep from * once more.  Complete rnd as before.

Work in patt inc 2 patts as before, directly above prev inc.

Work in patt around to first thumb inc, ch 4, sk next 4 patts; work in patt around rem of Glove.

Cont to work in patt until 2 more complete patts, are completed (ending with 3rd row of patt). Join & break off. 

There should be 9 patts, around. 

Now mark off 3 patts, for Index Finger.

Index Finger:
1st Rnd:  Attach thread to first sc, sl st in next 3 ch, ch 3, dc in same sp.  Work in patt around to next mark, ch 10.  Join with sl st to top of ch-3.

2nd Rnd:  Work in patt around, making solid patt over ch 10.  Join. 

Cont to work in patt until 5 complete patt rnds are completed.

Next Rnd:  Dc in top of each patt.  Join & break off.

Middle Finger: 
Attach thread to next sc on front of Glove, preceding Index Finger.  Work in patt, working over opposite side of ch on Index Finger & next patt on hack of Glove, ch 10.  Join. 

Complete as for Index Finger until 5 complete patts, are made. 

Work 2 more rnds of patt.  Break off. 

Sew up opening.

Ring Finger: 
Attach thread to next sc preceding Middle Finger. 

Work as for Middle Finger until 5 complete patts, are completed. 

Complete as for Index Finger.

Little Finger: 
Attach thread to opposite side of ch on Ring Finger. 

Work in patt around.  Join. 

Continue to work in patt until 3 complete pats, are made.

Next Rnd:  Ch 3, * sk 1 st, dc in next st.  Rep from * around.  Join & break off. 

Sew up opening.

Thumb: 
Attach thread at thumb opening & work in patt until 3 complete patt rnds are made. 

Work in patt, for 2 more rnds. 

Complete as for Little Finger.

Cuff: 
1st Rnd:  Attach thread to any sp on edge, sc in same sp, * ch 4, in next sp make dc, ch 3 & dc; ch 4, sc in next sp.  Rep from * around.  Join.

2nd Rnd:  Sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, sk next sp, in next sp make (dc, ch 2) 3 times & dc; ch 3, sc in next sc.  Rep from * around.  Join & break off.

Right Glove: 
Work as for Left Glove, making it to fit Right Hand.
