Vintage 1040s Long Scalloped Gloves #1136
MATERIALS:
American Thread Company Sillateen Sansil, 8 Balls
5 yds Star Six Strand Embroidery Cotton, Contrastimg Color for Trim
Steel Crochet Hook #6 or #7

NOTE:
Do not work glove too tightly.

LEFT GLOVE:
Ch 98, join, be careful not to twist ch, ch 2, sk 1 ch, 1 sc in next ch, * ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch, rep from * all around, ch 1 & without join rows, sc in 2 ch lp, * ch 1, sc in next 1 ch mesh, rep from * all around & rep last row 34 times.

NEXT ROW: Dec every 5th mesh & work 10 rows even.

NEXT ROW: Dec every 6th mesh (34 meshes left) & work 16 rows even.

NEXT ROW: 3 sc with ch 1 bet in next mesh, (this starts inc for thumb) 1 sc in each mesh with ch 1 bet.
Work 2 more rows of meshes even, work mesh in each mesh of thumb.

NEXT ROW: Work 3 sc with ch 1 bet in mesh over last inc point at thumb, then inc over same inc point every 3rd row 4 more times & work 2 rows even.

NEXT ROW: Work to within 6 meshes before inc point, ch 9, sk 12 meshes, sc in next mesh, cont in patt to ch over thumb, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, * ch 1, sk 1 st, sc in next st, rep from * 3 times, ch 1, sc in next mesh & work even in pattern for 15 rows.

NEXT ROW: Start 1st finger.
Fold glove in half thru center of thumb opening placing thumb on left side, work 6 meshes on back of hand, ch 3, count back, sk 13 meshes, sc in next mesh, then work in patt to ch bet fingers, ch 1, sc in 1st ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, sc in next ch & work 11 rows of patt around finger.

NEXT ROW: Dec 1 mesh & work 3 rows even.

Rep last 4 rows twice.

Dec 1 mesh & work 1 row even, then dec every 3rd mesh 4 times.

Next row work 1 sc in each mesh without ch 1 bet, break thread, leave end & sew top tog.

SECOND FINGER:
Join thread to last st at base of 1st finger on back of glove & work 5 meshes, ch 3, sc in 4th free mesh from 1st finger on palm of glove, 1 sc with ch 1 bet in each of next 3 meshes, ch 1, sc in sc at base of 1st finger. 2 meshes bet fingers work on ch same as 1st finger.

Cont in patt for 14 rows, then dec same as 1st finger.

THIRD FINGER:
Join thread in same manner as 2nd finger & work 5 meshes on back of glove, ch 3, sc in 4th free mesh on palm side of glove & work same length as 1st finger.

LITTLE FINGER:
Attach thread on back of glove at base of 3rd finger & work in patt for 8 rows, then dec 1 mesh & work 2 rows even.

Rep last 3 rows twice, then dec every 3rd st twice & finish same as other finger.

THUMB:
Attach thread & work 2 rows of meshes. 

NEXT ROW: Dec 2 meshes & work 2 more rows even.
Rep last 3 rows.

NEXT ROW: Dec 2 meshes & work 11 rows even, then dec every 3rd mesh 5 times & finish same as other fingers.

Work right glove same as left glove to 1st finger.

Fold glove in half same as left glove having thumb on right side & work 7 meshes on front of glove, ch 3, count back 13 meshes, sc in next mesh & finish same as other glove.

SCALLOP:
* Ch, 3, d c in same sp, sl st in next mesh, rep from * all around.

With 6 Strand Embroidery Cotton work bow knots 1” apart down center back of glove, work 4 sts crosswise about 1” long, then work 2 sts about 14” long over 4 sts forming knot.
