Free Pattern - 1952 Chic Shrug & Camisole #384

Vintage 1952 Chic Shrug & Camisole #384 
MATERIALS: 
Bear Brand Rococo or Fleisher’s Paradise “A”, 5 skeins &
Bucilla Metalix non-tarnish Metal thread “B”, 4 tubes
1 Pair each #2 & #10 Knitting Needles
#4 Crochet Hook

GAUGE: 
7 rows  = 1”

SHRUG:
With #2 needles & 1 strand each of A & B, cast on 81 sts.

PATTERN: 
1ST ROW:  K 1, * p 2, k 2; rep from * to end.

2ND ROW:  P 1, * k 2, p 2; rep from * to end.

Rep these 2 rows for 2 ½” for cuff. 
With #10 needles, cont in patt until 22” from beg. 

With #2 needles, work 2 ½” for 2nd cuff.  Bind off.

Sew side edges tog for about 4” from lower edge of cuffs.

FRINGE: 
From right side, beg at seam, with 2 strands of A & 1 strand of B make loop on hook, 1 sc in end of first row above seam, draw up loop on hook to about 2”, drop loop from hook, * 1 sl st in end of next row, pull up loop on hook to 2”, tighten st at base of loop, drop loop from hook; rep from * around, keep all loops even, end 1 sl st in first sc.  Fasten off.  Steam lightly.

CAMISOLE: 
With #2 needles, & 1 strand each of A & B, cast on 81 sts.  Work patt for 2 ½”.  With #10 needles, cont patt until 11” from lower edge.  Bind off firmly.  Make 2.

TURN-BACK CUFF: 
With #10 needles, & 1 strand each of A & B, cast on 81 sts.  Work patt for 2”.  Bind off loosely.  Make 2.

SHOULDER STRAPS: 
With #2 needles, & 1 strand each of A & B, cast on 13 sts.  Work patt for 14” or to desired length.  Bind off.  Make 2.

FINISHING: 
Sew side seams of camisole & turn-back cuff. 
Sew cast-on edge of cuff to bound-off edge of camisole, right side out, holding in to desired size. 

From right side, with 1 strand each of A & B, work 1 row sc around bound-off edge of cuff.  Ch 1, turn, work 1 row sc from wrong side; join with sl st.  Fasten off. 

Work 1 row sc from right side, on side edges of shoulder straps holding in firmly to avoid stretching. 


Sew on straps, adjusting to proper length.  Steam lightly.
