Vintage 1950s Lovely Loopy Bolero #1117
SIZE:
Directions are for Size 10. Changes for Sizes 12, 14 & 16 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED: 
Columbia Minerva Knitting Worsted 4 oz skein - 3(3-4-4) skeins
OR
Columbia Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted 2 or 4 oz skein - 12(14-16-18) ozs
1 Boye Aluminum Crochet Hook #H/6
1 Boye Steel Crochet Hook #0
1 Boye Knit­ting Needle #15 Or ⅜” Diameter Rod

GAUGE:
Loop Stitch with #H hook
3½ sts = 1”
7 rows = 2”

BACK:
With # H hk ch 53(57-61-65). 

1ST ROW: Hold knitting needle at back of work with point toward right, start in 2nd ch from hk, * with yo knitting needle, draw yarn from under needle thrust forming lp, yo & thru 2 lps on hk, rep from * sliding knitting needle along 52(56-60-64) sts, ch 1, turn. 

2ND ROW: 1 sc in each st, ch 1, turn.
Rep these 2 rows for pat.

Work in pat, inc 1 sc each side every 2” 3 times - 58(62-66-70) sts.

Work until back meas 8½”(8½”-9”-9”). 

ARMHOLES:
* Work to last 2(2-3-3) sts, ch 1, turn, rep from * once more.

Dec 1 st at each side every other row twice - 50(54-56-60) sts.

Work until armholes meas 8½”(8½”-9”-9”). 

SHOULDERS:
* Work to last 4 sts, ch 1, turn.

Rep from * 5(7-5-5) times more. 

SIZES 10, 14 & 16 ONLY:
 * Work to last 3(5-6) sts, ch 1, turn.

Rep from * once more. 

ALL SIZES:
20(22-22-24) sts rem for back of neck. Break yarn & fasten.

LEFT FRONT:
Ch 34(36-38-40).

Start in 2nd ch from hk, work in lp st pat on 33(35-37-39) sts.

Inc 1 st at side edge every 1” - 6 times - 39(41-43-45) sts.

Work until front meas same as back to underarm. 

ARMHOLE:
Work to last 3(3-4-4) sts at side edge.

Dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4 times.

Work until front edge meas 15”(15”-16”-16”). 

NECK:
Work to last 12(13-13-14) sts at front edge, turn.

Dec 1 st at same edge every row 5 times.

Work until armhole meas same as on back. 

SHOULDER:
Work to last 5 sts at armhole edge twice, leaving rem 5(6-7-8) sts.
Break yarn & fasten.

Place markers for 3 buttons, having 1st marker 2” above lower edge & 3rd marker 3½” below neck.

RIGHT FRONT:
Work to corres to Left Front, reverse shaping & work buttonholes op­posite markers as follows:

Start at front edge, work 3 sts, ch 4, sk 4 sts, work to end of row.

Next row work 4 sc over ch-4.

SLEEVES:
Ch 69(69-73-73).

Start in 2nd ch from hk, work in lp st pat on 68(68-72-72) sts for 3½”.

Dec 4 sts evenly spaced across next row - 64(64-68-68) sts.

Work 2”, then dec 4 sts once more - 60(60-64-64) sts.

Work until sleeve meas 6½”(6½”-7”-7”) or desired length. 

SLEEVE CAP:
Work to last 3(3-4-4) sts each side once.

Dec 1 st each side every row 8(8-9-9) times.

Work to last 3 sts each side 3 times.

Break yarn & fasten, leave 20 sts for top of sleeve.

FINISHING:
Sew shoulder seams.

Sew sleeves in place, then sew underarm & sleeve seams.

With # H hk work 1 row of lp st pat on neck & sleeve edges.

With # O hk work 1 row of sc on front edges.
