SWEATER: Start at neck, make ch 77; 1 sc in 2nd ch
from hook, & 1 sc in next 12 sts (front); 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 11
sts (sleeve); 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 24 sts (back); 3 sc in next st; 1
sc in next 11 sts (sleeve); 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in last 13 sts (front); ch 1
& turn.
2nd row:
1
Sc in next 14 sts, 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 13 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc
in next 26 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 13 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in
last 14 sts, Ch 1, turn.
3rd row:
1
Sc in next 15 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 15 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc
in next 28 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 15 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in
last 15 sts. Cont in same manner inc at
each of 4 corners by putting 3 sc into middle st of group of 3 on row below.
Note: You will have 1 more st
each time on the fronts and 2 sts more in the sleeves and back.
Work until yoke has this for LAST ROW: 1 Sc in next 32 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in
next 49 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in next 62 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in
next 49 sts; 3 sc in next st; 1 sc in last 32 sts.
Now you are going to join the fronts with back as
follows: Make 1 sc in next 34 sts (front); sk
next 51 sts (sleeve); 1 sc in next 66 sts (back); sk next 51 sts (sleeve); 1 sc
in last 34 sts (134 sts in all). Ch 1,
turn.
Next row: Work in sc, inc 6 sts
on each front & 15 sts across back (27 incs-161 sts in all).
BODY PART: Work
in patt as follows:
1ST ROW:
Ch
4, * make 5 dc in first sc, drop lp from hook, insert hook thru top of first dc
& draw lp thru this st (popcorn made); sk 4 sts, in next sc make - 3 trc,
ch 3, 3 trc; sk 4 sts; rep from * across row, end with popcorn st in last sc.
2nd row:
Ch
2, * make 1 sc in joining st of popcorn in row below, make 1 sc in top of next
3 trc, 3 sc over ch-3 sp, 1 sc in next 3 trc; rep from * across row, end with
sc in joining st of last popcorn.
Rep
these 2 rows for patt.
Work
in patt until piece meas 6” from underarm, end with row 2. Break yarn.
SLEEVES: Tie yarn at underarm
edge, with right side of work facing you, work 1 row of sc around armhole, inc
10 sts across row (61 sts). Ch 1,
turn. Work 1 row of sc.
Now
work in patt as on body of sweater, (6 shells-7 popcorn sts).
Work
until sleeve meas 5 ½” from underarm.
Break yarn.
Sew
up sleeve. Make other sleeve same way.
NECK
BAND: Tie yarn at front neck edge; ch 4,
make popcorn into first scan row below; * ch 2, sk 1 sc, 1 dc in next st, ch 2,
sk 1 sc, 1 popcorn in next sc; rep from * around neck edge. Break yarn.
BONNET: Start at center back, make chain 3, join with
sl st to form ring. Make 6 sc into ring.
2nd rnd:
2
Sc in each st.
3rd rnd:
(Mark
beg of rnd with colored thread), * 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from *
around once.
4th rnd:
* 1
Sc in next 2 sts; 2 sc in next st; rep from * around once. Keep inc 6 sts on rnd, have 1 more st bet
each inc until you have 12 sts bet each inc (84 sts). Ch 1, turn.
Make 1 sc in each of next 71 sts, Ch 4, turn. Make popcorn in first st, * sk 2 sts, make
shell in next st, sk 3 sts, make popcorn in next st; rep from * across 71 sts;
end with popcorn in last st (11 popcorn & 10 shells).
Now
cont to work in patt as on sweater for 4 ¼”, end with row 2 of patt. Break yarn.
NECK
BAND: With right side of work facing
you, tie yarn in at left front corner; ch 4, make 1 dc in same place, * ch 4,
sk popcorn, 2 dc in next st, rep from * across side front; work across back
section sk 3 sc bet; work across 2nd front. Ch 1, turn, 1 sc in top of next 2
dc, 2 sc over next sp; rep from * across row.
Break yarn.
Trim
with silk as on sweater.
BOOTIES: Instep
& sole: Make ch 10; turn, 1
sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each rem 8-ch sts.
Next row: Ch 1, turn. Work 1 sc into each st across row.
Rep
last row 7 times more.
Ch
35 for ankle; join with sl st to opposite corner. Make 9 sc along side of instep; 9 sc across
toe; 9 sc along 2nd side of instep; 1 sc into each of 35-ch sts (62 sts). Mark beg of rnd as an aid in counting.
Work
10 rows of sc. Break yarn.
Top part: Join yarn at center of
back. Work in patt as on sweater only that on first row, sk 3 sts instead
of 4. Work in patt for 2”, end with row 2 of patt.
Sew
up sole & back of bootie. Make other
bootie same way.
TRIMMING:
Using #2 steel hook & silk, make 1 row of sc around all pieces, keeping
work flat.
