Free Pattern - 1947 Ridged Rascal Hat #128

1947 Ridged Rascal Hat #128

MATERIALS:
Dritz Belastraw Art #110, 2 tubes of Main color, 1 tube of Contrasting Color.
Crochet hook #0.

GAUGE: 
4 1/2 sc = 1”.

HAT:
Start at center top, with Main Color, ch 4.  Join with sl st to form a ring.

1st Rnd:  Ch 1, 7 sc in ring.

2nd Rnd:  2 sc in each sc [134 sc].  Mark last st of each rnd.

3rd Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc.  Rep from * [21 sc].

4th Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc.  Rep from * [28 sc].

5th thru 12th Rnds:  Cont inc 7 sc evenly each rnd [84 sc on 12th rnd].

13th Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

14th Rnd:  Sc in each sc then mark this rnd with colored thread. 

Ridge will be worked on this rnd later.

15th Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 6 sc.  Rep from * [96 sc].

16th & 17th Rnds:  Rep 13th & 14th rnds.

18th & 19th Rnds:  Sc in each sc.

20th, 21st & 22nd Rnds:  Rep 14th, 18th & 19th rnds.

23rd Rnd:  Rep 14th rnd.

24th Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 11 sc.  Rep from * [104 sc].

25th Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

26th Rnd:  Rep 14th rnd.

27th Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

28th Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 12 sc.  Rep from * [112 sc].

29th Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

30th Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 13 sc.  Rep from * [120 sc].

31st Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

32nd Rnd:  * 2 sc in next sc, sc in each of next 9 sc.  Rep from * [132 sc].

33rd Rnd:  Sc in each sc.

34th Rnd:  Rep 14th rnd.

35th & 36th Rnds:  Sc in each sc.

37th Rnd:  Rep 14th rnd.

38th Rnd:  Sc in each sc.  End off [this is center back].

RIDGE: 
Hold Crown away from you, attach Main Color to 1st marked rnd in line with center back. 

Sc over each sc of marked rnd.  End off.  Turn.

Attach Contrasting Color & sc in back loop only of each sc of ridge.  End off. 

Work a ridge on each marked rnd.

FINISHING: 
Trim with ribbon cockade, cover joinings at center back.

NOTE: 
To make this hat extra special, add a veil of net, lace or dotted-swiss in a matching color.
