Vintage 1943 Crocheted
Bow Snood #376
A clever needle worker
will quickly create this lovely snood with colorful ring accents into a
season-spanning wardrobe accessory to keep or gift!
MATERIALS:
J
& P Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 2 balls any color
J
& P Coats or Clarks ONT Pearl Cotton, Size 5, 1 ball each of 2 contrasting
colors

Bone Crochet Hook
22”
Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 ½” wide, 2 contrasting colors
28”
Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 ½” wide, 2 contrasting colors

Small Button
Use a double thread throughout.
SNOOD:
To
beg, ch 75 to measure 18”.
1ST
ROW: Sc in 2nd ch from hook
& in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
2ND
& 3RD ROWS: Sc in each sc
across. Ch 1 to turn after 2nd
row & ch 5 to turn after 3rd row.
4TH
ROW: * Sc in next sc, ch 5. Rep from * across until 50 loops are
made. Ch 5, turn.
5TH
ROW: * Sc in next loop, ch 5. Rep from *
across to within last loop, omit last ch-5 & make sc in last loop [1 loop
dec]. Ch 5, turn. Rep the last row until 25 loops rem. Fasten off.
Attach double thread to loop next sc rows which extend
beyond Snood, sc in same loop, sc in each loop around to sc rows at opposite
side. Ch 1, turn.
NEXT
ROW: * Sc in next sc, work off next 2 sc
as 1 sc [dec made]. Rep from * across to
beg of prev row. Ch 1, turn.
FOLLOWING
ROW: Sc in each sc across. Do not fasten off, but ch 3 & work along
start ch as follows. Sc in next 10 ch,
then work off 2 sc as 1 sc until 10 ch rem, sc in each of last 10 ch. Fasten off.
FINISHING:
Sew button to this end of extension piece.
Use
the turning ch-3 at opposite end for button loop.
Make 4 bows with ribbon & sew evenly across extension piece.
RING
TRIMMING [Make 14]:
With
Pearl Cotton, ch 6. Join with sl
st. Then make 16 sc in ring. Fasten off.
With another color, ch 6, pull end of ch thru ring just made & join
with sl st. Then make 16 sc in loop just
made. Join & fasten off [double ring
made].
Sew rings to Snood as desired.
