Vintage 1940s Stylish Snood Cap #413
Quick & easy to create, this becoming cap & snood
combination will become a seasonal favorite & you’ll be a well dressed lady in town or country!
MATERIALS:
Peter Pan Guimpe, 1 spool [400 yds]
#3 Steel Crochet Hook
CAP:
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
1ST RND: Ch 3, 19 dc in ring. Join with sl st.
2ND RND: 1 Sc in 1st st, * popcorn in next
st, as follows, 5 dc in one st, leave loop of hook, insert hook into 1st
dc of group of 5, pull loop thru back of 5 loops & thru 1st dc,
1 sc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st. [10 popcorns].
3RD RND: Ch 3, 1 dc in 1st st, * 2 dc in
every st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st.
4TH RND: Ch 3, work in dc, inc 1 st in every 4th
st. Join with sl st.
5TH RND: Ch 3, work in dc, inc 1 st in every 6th
st. Join with sl st.
CONT same, always having 1 st more bet
incs until you have 7 sts bet incs.
NEXT RND:
Same as 2nd rnd.
WORK even in dc, always start rnd with ch
3 & join at end of rnd with sl st, for 7 rnds.
NEXT RND:
Work 1 rnd of sc & end off.
SNOOD:
Ch 20”.
Ch 20”.
1ST ROW: Sc into 8th st on ch, & ch 5,
sk 4 sts, sc into next st. Rep from *
across row.
2ND ROW: Ch 6 to turn, sc into 1st sp, * ch
5, sc into next sp. Rep from *
across.
3RD & 4TH
ROWS: Rep 2nd row.
5TH ROW: Ch 6, sc into 1st sp, ch 5, sc
into next sp, * ch 5, sc into next sp, 5 dc in same sp, leave loop off hook,
insert hook into sc before 5 dc, pull loop of last dc thru back of 5 dc, &
thru sc. Rep from * across, end ch 5, sc
in each of last 2 sps.
6TH ROW: Rep 2nd row.
NEXT ROWS;
Rep 5th & 6th rows alternately 11 times [22
rows].
NEXT ROWS:
Rep 2nd row, 6 times.
NEXT ROWS:
Work 3 rows of sc around 3 sides of snood, taking it in to fit head.
