BRIM:
Hold right side of top toward you, attach thread to top side of band at loose edge 4” in from seam where band was joined at back.

1ST ROW:  Sc in each hdc, inc 1 sc in every 7th hdc [to inc, make 2 sc in 1 st], to within 4” from next seam.  Break off.

2ND ROW:  Attach thread to beg of 1st row, but beyond 3 hdc [of band] of beg of 1st row, work sc in each sc across inc in every 5th sc, then make sc in each of next 3 hdc of band.  Break off.

3RD ROW:  Same as 2nd row, but inc in every 11th sc.

4TH ROW:  Same as 2nd row.

WORK 8 rows without inc, but always beg 3 sts before the start of prev row & end with 3 sts beyond end of prev row.

WORK row of sc, hold millinery wire across edge of brim.

Turn, & work another row of sc over the wire to give a cord effect.
