MATERIALS:
Clark’s ONT [6 balls]
OR
J & P Coats Mercerized Crochet, size 20, 4 balls
#6 Steel Crochet Hook

PALM:
Beg at wrist, ch 82 [meas about 7 ½”], turn.

1ST ROW:  Dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch 1, sk 1 st of foundation ch, dc in next st, & rep from * to end of ch [40 sps].  Ch 4, turn.

2ND THRU 7TH ROWS:  Dc in 1st sp of prev row, * ch 1, dc in next sp, * rep from * to end of row [40 sps].  When 7th row is completed, ch 5 & join with dc to 1st sp of same row to close up opening, & work in rnds, make 3 sps over this ch-5 [43 sps].

8TH THRU 16TH RNDS:  * Ch 1, dc in next sp, & rep from * around.

17TH RND:  Lay work down, have opening in center & work sps [about 5 sps from center opening for left hand glove] toward folded edge, then ch 15, sk 8 sps, dc in 9th sp, * ch 1, dc in next sp, & rep from * around, make 8 sps over ch-15 [43 sps].

18TH THRU 26TH RNDS:  Same as 8th rnd [43 sps in rnd].

FINGERS:
Forefinger should be directly above Thumb opening.  Work across 6 sps from outside edge of finger, ch 5, cross over to inside of glove & make 1 dc in 6th sp from outside of edge, then * ch 1, dc in next sp, & rep from * around [make 4 sps over ch-5] until there are about 15 rnds [16 sps].

Try on, & if too short, cont working till desired length

It is better not to have fingers too long.

Draw top tog & finish off.

MIDDLE FINGER:
Attach thread to bottom of Forefinger at back of glove & work across 6 sps, ch 8, cross to palm side of glove, & make 1 dc in 6th sp from Forefinger.

Work across these 6 sps, then over sps bet fingers, & cont around until there are about 17 rnds.  Finish off as before.

RING FINGER:
Same as Middle Finger until there are about 16 rnds.

LITTLE FINGER:
Same as Forefinger until there are about 13 rnds.

THUMB:
Attach thread, & work around thumb opening until there are about 14 rnds [17 sps].  Finish off as before.

FINISH OPENING:
Attach thread to 1st sp at palm on Little finger side.

1ST ROW:  3 Dc in 1st sp of opening, * 2 dc in next sp, & rep from * to end of opening.  Ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  Sc in each dc of 1/3 of opening, then ch 4 [or more depending on size of buttonhole desired], sk 4 sc, sc in each dc of 1/3 of same opening, make another buttonhole & comp by making sc in each dc to end.  Ch 1, turn.

3RD ROW:  Sc in each sc, & 5 sc [or more] over each buttonhole.  Work other side of opening same as this, but with no buttonholes.

CUFF:
Attach thread to 1st sp at opening at wrist.

1ST ROW:  2 Sc in each sp to end of row.  Join with sl st to 1st sc, thus closing opening.  Hereafter work in rnds.

2ND RND:  Ch 4, * sk 3 sc, dc in next sc, ch 3, 3 dc around dc just made, rep from * to end of rnd.  Join with sl st to point at ch-3 of 1st shell [20 shells].

3RD RND:  * Ch 4, sc in point of next shell, rep from around [20 loops].

4TH RND:  Make 5 sc over each ch-4 to end of rnd.

5TH RND:  * Ch 6, sk 3 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * until 23 loops are made, then ch 6, sc in 1st loop.  [Since the number of loops must be divisible by 3, there must be 24 loops in all in this rnd].

6TH RND:  3 Dc in next loop, ch-3, p, 3 dc in same loop, sc in next loop, ch 6, sc in next loop, rep from * around complete last group of shells, & sc in last loop [8 groups of shells].

7TH RND:  * Ch 6, sc in center dc of 3-dc just before p of group of shells, ch 6, sk p, sc in center dc of 3-dc after same p, ch 6, sc under next loop.  Rep from * around.

8TH RND:  Same as 6th rnd, keeps groups of shells over each other.

9TH THRU 28TH RNDS:  Rep 7th & 8th rnds alternately [12 shells deep].

29TH RND:  * Ch 6, sc in center dc of 3-dc just before p of group of shells, ch 6, sk p, sc in center dc of 3-dc after same p, ch 6, sc under next loop, ch 6, sc under same loop [inc 1 loop], rep from * around.

30TH RND:  * 3 Dc in next loop [which is directly over group of shells], ch-3 p, 3 dc in same loop, sc in next loop, ch 6, sc in next loop, ch 6, sc in next loop, rep from * around.

31ST THRU 38TH RNDS:  Work in patt as usual, always keeping groups of shells over groups of shells [17 shells deep].

If longer cuff is desired, add a few more rnds.

After last rnd of shells is comp, finish off edge by rnd of ch-6 loops with ch-3 p at center of each loop.

Stiffen cuff with gelatine or starch.

ENJOY!
