1934 Crocheted Gloved with Triangular Flare Cuff #952

MATERIALS:
J & P Coats Pearl Cotton, Size 8, 5 balls of main color [referred to as color A] & 2 balls of contrasting color [referred to as color B]
Milward’s steel crochet hook #6

GLOVE:
PALM:
Begin with color A, ch 86 [ to meas about 8 ¼”] & join with sl st to form ring.
1ST RND:  * Ch 4, sk 2 sts of foundation ch, ch 1 sc in next st & rep from * around [27 lps in all].

2ND TO 15TH RNDS INCL:  *Ch 4, 1 sc in next lp, & rep from * around.

16TH RND: Ch 12, sk 7 lps [for thumb opening], 1 sc in 8th lp, * ch 4, 1 sc in next lp, & rep from * around.

17TH RND:  Over ch 12 of prev rnd, * sk 2 ch, 1 sc in next ch, ch 4, & rep from * until 4 sc with ch 4 bet are made over ch 12.  Then ** ch 4, 1 sc in next lp & rep from ** around.

18TH RND TO 29TH RNDS INCL:  Same as 2nd rnd.

FINGERS: 
FOREFINGER should be directly above thumb opening.  Work across 4 lps from outside edge of finger, ch 5, cross over to back of glove & make 1 sc in 4th lp from outside edge, then * ch 4, 1 sc in next lp, & rep from * until there are about 16 rnds.  Try on, & if too short, cont working til length desired.  It is better not to have the fingers too long.  Draw top tog & finish off.

MIDDLE FINGER:  Attach thread to bottom of forefinger at palm side of glove & work across 34 lps, ch 5, cross over to back of glove & make 1 sc in 3rd lp from forefinger.  Work across these 3 lps, then over lp bet fingers & cont around until there about 18 rnds.  Finish off as before.

RING FINGER:  Attach thread to bottom of middle finger at palm side, & work as for middle finger until there are about 15 rnds.  Finish off as before.

LITTLE FINGER:  Attach thread & work around until there are about 13 rnds.  Finish off as before.

THUMB:  Attach thread & work around thumb opening until there are about 14 rnds [11 lps in rnd].  Finish off as before.

CUFF:  Use thread double for entire cuff.
1ST RND:  Attach color B at wrist part of glove & make 2 sc in each sp on  foundation ch [58 sc in rnd].

2ND TO 5TH RNDS INCL:  1 Sc in each sc of prev rnd, working around.  Then break off..
 
6TH RND:  Attach color A.  *  Ch 3, sk 1 sc of prev rnd, 1 sc in next sc, & rep from * around cuff [29 ch-3 lps in rnd].

7TH TO 10TH RNDS INCL:  * Ch 3, 1 sc in next lp, & rep from & around.  Break off.

11TH RND:  Attach color B, * 2 sc in next lp, 1 sc in next sc, 2 sc in next lp, sk next sc, & rep from * around [59 sc in rnd].

12TH TO 15TH RNDS INCL:  1 Sc in each sc of prec rnd.

16TH RND:  Attach color A & work as for 6th rnd, makind 59 ch-3 lps in rnd.

17TH TO 21ST RNDS INCL:  Same as 7th rnd.  Break off.

22ND RND:  Attach color B & work as for 11th rnd ]95 sc in rnd].

23 TO 27TH RNDS INCL:  Same as 12th rnd, but do not break off.

28TH ROW:  Ch 4 [to count as 1 dc & ch 1], sk1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, * ch 1, sk 1 sc, 1 dc in next sc, & rep from * until there are 6 sps [6 dc], turn.

29TH ROW:  1 Sc over last ch-1, ch 4 [to count as 1 dc & ch-1] * sk next dc of prev row, 1 dc over nect ch-1, ch 1, & rep from * until there are 5 sps [5 dc].  Turn.

30TH TO 33RD ROWS INCL:  Same as 29th row, only dec 1 sp on each row, thus having 1 sp left on 33rd row.  Break off.  This completes one point.  Make 6 more points same as one just finished by rep 28th to 33rd rows incl, but leaving 1 sc bet two points.

34TH ROW:  Attach color A to top of last dc of 1 st row of any point [28th row], make 1 sc in last sp, then 1 dc in same sp as last dc of point, 1 dc in next sc, then 1 dc in next sc [which is the same place as 1st dc of next point]k.  Sl st into top of this row of 2nd point, then make 1 sc into 1st sp, ch 3, & sl st to top of next row.

35TH TO 39TH ROWS INCL:  *Turn, make 1 dc in 1st sp of prev row, 1 dc in each dc of color A, a dc in last sp of prev row of 1st point, sl st to top of same row of 1st point, make 1 sc in sp of same row, then ch 3 & sl st to top of next row.  Rep from *, thus filling in the spaces bet the points.  When color A is even with top of points [row 33], break off & fill in next 6 sps.  Do not break off when last sp is filled.

40TH RND:  Ch 3, 1 dc in each st to end of rnd.  Join with sl st.

41ST RND:  * 1 Sc in each of next 4 dc, ch 3 [for p], & rep from * to end of rnd.  Break off.
Follow same directions for making other glove, but reverse position of fingers.
