Free Pattern - 1930s Marissa’s Sweater Jacket #1190

1930s Marissa’s Sweater Jacket #1190
MATERIALS:
Patons Totem Knitting Wool 12 ply, 12 ozs 
1 Pair Knitting Needles UK #1/7.5mm
1 Crochet Hook UK #8/4mm
1 yd Double Satin Ribbon 1½”
1½ yds Double Satin Ribbon ½”
1 Press Stud


MEASUREMENTS:
Length from top of shoulder – 22”
Width around at underarm – 34” to 36” (actual meas- 40”)
Length of sleeve from underarm - 17½”

GAUGE/TENSION:
4 sts = 1”


NOTE:
Back & Fronts are worked in 1 piece.


SWEATER:
Cast on 64 stitches.


1ST – 8TH ROWS: ** Work in Garter Stitch (every row K).

9TH ROW: K1, * yo, K1, repeat from * to last stitch, K1.

10TH ROW: K, allow yo in prev row to sl off needles.**

NEXT ROWS: Rep from ** to ** 5 times, then work from 1st - 6th rows once.

CONT AS FOLLOWS:
Cast off 3 sts at beg of each of next 2 rows.


NEXT ROWS: Dec once at each end of needle in next & every alt row, until 52 sts rem.

NEXT ROWS: Work 21 rows in patt.

NEXT ROW: K15, cast off 22 sts, K15.

Work on last 15 sts as follows:
Keep cont of patt, inc once at neck edge in every 3rd row, until there are 22 sts on needle.


NEXT ROWS: Still inc at neck edge in every 3rd row, inc once at armhole edge in every alt row 3 times.

NEXT ROW: Cast on 3 sts at armhole edge, work to end of row.

NEXT ROWS: Cont in patt, inc once at neck edge in every 3rd row until there are 34 sts on needle.

NEXT ROWS: Work in patt, without shaping until Front meas same as Back from underarm. Cast off.

Join in wool at neck edge & work on rem 15 sts to corres.

SLEEVES:
Cast on 16 sts.


NEXT ROWS: Work in patt, as for Jacket, inc once at beg & end of needle in every alt row, until there are 46 sts on the needle.

NEXT ROWS: Work from ** to ** 6 times, then 8 rows in Garter St.

CONT AS FOLLOWS:
1ST ROW: K1, * yo, K2tog, repeat from * to last stitch, K1.


NEXT ROWS: Work 8 rows in Garter St. Cast off.

Work second Sleeve in same way.

FINISHING:
With damp cloth & hot iron, steam, but do not press.


Sew up side & sleeve seams.

Sew in sleeves, place seam to seam.

Use Crochet Hook, work an edging around Jacket as follows:
1ST ROW: Work in DC.


2ND ROW: * (1 DC, 3 TRC) in 1st DC, sk 2 DC, rep from * around Jacket.

Work 2nd row only around sleeves.

Thread narrow ribbon thru holes at wrist.

Make bow of wide ribbon, & sew in place at neck.

Sew on press stud at neck opening.
