Vintage Windmill Wings Doily

A clever woman very quickly & easily will crochet this exquisite doily…which will become a personal favorite to keep or gift to that special person!

MATERIALS:
J & P Coats Big Ball Best Six Cord Mercerized Crochet, Art #A104, Size 30, 2 balls of White, or
Clark’s Big Ball Mercerized Crochet, Art #B 34, Size 30, 2 balls of White
#10 Steel Crochet Hook

MEASUREMENT:  
17” diameter

Starting at center, ch 8.  Join with sl st to form ring.

1ST RND:  Ch 3, 15 dc in ring.  Join with sl st to top of ch-3 [16 dc, count ch 3 as 1 dc].

2ND RND:  Ch 1, sc in same place as sl st, * ch 3, sk 1 dc, sc in next sc.  Rep from * around.  Join [8 lps].

3RD RND:  Sl st in next lp, ch 3, 5 dc in same lp, 6 dc in each lp around.  Join.

4TH RND:  Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st [an inc], * dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc. Rep from * around.  Join [64 dc].

5TH RND:  Ch 8, * sk 3 dc, dc in next dc, ch 5.  Rep from * around.  Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch-8 [16 sps].

6TH RND:  Ch 3, 6 dc in same place as sl st, * sc in next lp, ch 5, sc in next lp, 7 dc in next dc.  Rep from * around, end with sc in last lp.  Join, turn; sl st in last sc, turn.

7TH RND:  Ch 3, 3 dc in same place as last sl st, * ch 5, 4 dc in next sc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

8TH RND:  Ch 3, hold back on hk last lp of each dc, make dc in next 3 dc, yo & draw thru all lps on hk [cluster made], * ch 5, dc in next ch-5 sp, ch 5, 4-dc cluster over next 4 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join last ch-5 to tip of cluster.

9TH RND:  Sc in next lp, * 7 dc in next dc, sc in next lp, ch 5, sc in next lp.  Rep from * around.  Join last ch-5 to first sc.

10TH RND:  Sl st to center dc of 7-dc group, ch 5, dc in same place as last sl st, * ch 5, in next lp make dc, ch 2 & dc; ch 5, in center dc of next 7-dc group make dc, ch 2 & dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

11TH, 12TH & 13TH RNDS:  Sl st in ch-2 sp, ch 5, dc in same sp, * ch 5, in next ch-2 sp make dc, ch 2 & dc.  Rep from * around.  Join last ch 5 to 3rd ch of ch-5.

14TH RND:  Sl st in next ch-2 sp, ch 3, * 7 dc in next lp, dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 5, in next ch-2 sp make dc, ch 2 & dc; ch 5, dc in next ch-2 sp.  Rep from * around.  Join.

15TH THRU 26TH RNDS:  Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, * dc in each dc across dc group, 2 dc in last dc; ch 5, in ch-2 sp make dc, ch 2 & dc; ch 5, 2 dc in first dc of next dc group.  Rep from * around.  Join [33 dc in each dc group on 26th rnd].

27TH RND:  Sc in same place as sl st, draw lp on hk out to meas ¼”, insert hk bet double & single lps & make an sc [knot st made], make another knot st, * [sk 3 dc, sc in next dc, make 2 knot sts] 7 times, sc in last dc; make 2 knot sts, sc in center ch of ch-5, 2 knot sts, sc in ch-2 sp, 2 knot sts, sc in center ch of next ch-5, 2 knot sts, sc in first dc of next dc-group, 2 knot sts.  Rep from * around, end with 2 knot sts.

28TH THRU 33RD RNDS:  * Insert hk under double lp to right of next knot & draw lp thru, insert hk under double lp to left of same knot & draw lp thru, yo & draw thru all lps on hk, make 2 knot sts.  Rep from * around [132 lps in each rnd], end last rnd with sc in center of next knot.

34TH RND:  * Ch 5, sc in center of next knot.  Rep from * around.  Join.

35TH RND:  * In next lp make 2 sc, ch 3, sl st in last sc [picot] & 2 sc; 6 dc in center ch of next loop.  Rep from * around.  Join & break off.

Starch lightly & press.
