Vintage Tatted Placemat Table Cloth 

Quick & easy to tat this charming placemat…perfect table setting accent or a beautiful tablecloth for special occasions!

SIZE:  Completed placemat measures approx 11 ¾” x 17 ½”;  composed of 24 medallions:  6 medallions long & 4 wide.

MATERIALS: 
400 yds Crochet Cotton #20
Tatting Shuttle
#12 Steel Crochet Hook [for joining picots if shuttle does not have hook]

STITCHES:                                    
CH    =       Chain
CL R =       Close Ring
DS    =       Double Stitch
P       =       Picot
R       =       Ring
REP  =       Repeat
RND =       Round
RW   =       Reverse Work
SEP  =       Separate

CENTER:  R of 4 ds, 8 long p [¼”] sep by 4 ds, cl r.  Tie & cut threads.

1ST RND:  R of 4 ds, 3 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds, cl r.  * R of 4 ds, join in last p of last r, 4 ds, join in long p, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl r.  R of 4 ds, join in last p of last r, 4 ds, 2 p sep by 4 ds,, 4 ds, cl r, rw.

Tie ball thread to shuttle thread, ch 4 ds, 4 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds, rw.  R of 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join in center p of last r, 4 ds, p, 4 ds, cl r, rep from * around, join center p of last r to center p of first r.  Tie & cut threads.

2ND RND:  Join ball & shuttle threads in first p of ch, * 4 ds, 3 p sep by 4 ds, 4 ds, join in last p of same ch, ch 4 ds, p, 4 ds, join in first p of next ch, rep from * around, join last ch at base of first ch.  Tie & cut threads.

Make 24 medallions, join each medallion as it is made by the 12 p on each side.

For lunch cloth [table cloth] make more medallions & join.

Block, spray with starch & press under damp cloth.
