Vintage 1970s Lovely Lace Dress or Sweater #1403
MATERIALS:
Villawool VIP Ban-lon:
TOP: 8 [9] Balls
DRESS: 13 [15] Balls
1 Aero Crochet Hook #8

MEASUREMENTS:
Bust = 34” [38”]
Length of Top = 21” [both sizes]
Length of Dress = 36” [both sizes]

TENSION:
14 TR [DC] = 3”

IMPORTANT NOTE:
DC [UK] = SC [US]
TR [UK] = DC [US]

PATTERN:
1ST ROW: 1 DC on 1st TR, 2 DC in 2 CH lp, 1 DC on next TR, * 4 CH, 1 DC on next TR, 5 DC in 4 CH lp, 1 DC on next TR, rep from * to last lp, 4 CH, 1 DC on TR, 2 DC in last lp, 1 DC in 3rd CH of TCH, 3 Ch for turn.

2ND ROW: 1 TR in each of next 3 DC, * 1 CH, 1 TR in each of next 7 DC, rep from * to last 4 DC, 1 CH, 1 Tr in each of 4 DC, 5 CH for turn.

3RD ROW: 1 TR in 1st RE, * 3 CH, 1 DC in 1 CH sp, 3 CH, (1 TR, 4 CH, 1 TR) in 4th TR of 7 TR grp of prev row, rep from * end 3 CH, 1 DC in 1 CH sp, 3 CH, (1 TR, 2 CH, 1 TR) in 3rd CH of TCH, 1 CH for turn.

Rep these 3 rows incl.

FRONT:
LEFT SHOULDER:
Make 26 CH, then 1 Dc in 3rd CH from hk, 1 DC in each CH to end, 5 CH for turn.

NEXT ROW: 1 TR in 1st DC, [3 CH, sk 3 DC, 1 DC in next DC, 3 CH, sk 3 DC, (1 TR, 4 ch, 1 TR) in next DC] twice, 3 CH, sk 3 DC, 1 DC in next DC, 3 CH, sk 3 DC, (1 TR, 2 CH, 1 TR) in last DC, 1 CH for turn.

Work 3 rows of patt, then work 1st & 2nd rows, break yarn & leave aside.

FRONT NECK:
Make 34 [42] CH, then 1 Dc in 3rd CH from hk, 1 DC in each CH to end & fasten off [32-40 DC].

RIGHT SHOULDER:
Work as left shoulder, then work 3rd row of patt.

Cont across front neck as foll: [3 CH, sk 3 DC, 1 DC in next DC, 3 CH, sk 3 DC, (1 TR, 4 CH, 1 TR) in next DC] rep 3 [4] times, 3 CH, sk 3 Dc, (1 TR, 4 CH, 1 TR) in last DC of neck & 1st TR of left shoulder piece, work across left shoulder to end, 1 CH for turn.

Cont in patt incl until work meas 21” for top, or 36” for dress from top of shoulder [or needed length]. Fasten off.

BACK:
Work same as front.

FINISHING:
Press work carefully on WS.

Flat sew shoulder seams, & press seams.

Work 1 row DC on each side edge of neck, then work 1 row DC around neck edge, & keep corners square.

Neatly sew up side edges to within 7” of shoulder seams, & press seams.

Work 2 rows DC around each armhole & on lower edge, if needed.
