4 [5] – 4 oz skeins Black
2 [3] – 4 oz skeins each White, Gray
Plastic Crochet Hook Size H

GAUGE:
Each motif = 3½”[4”] square

NOTE:
Due to extra row worked on motif for Medium-Large size, less motifs are required for this size.

MOTIF:
Ch 2, work 8 sc in 1st st of ch [Do not join rnds, place marker at beg of each rnd].
2ND RND: Work in back lp of sts only thru out, * 3 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc, rep from * all around.
3RD TO 7TH RNDS: Work 1 sc in each sc, work 3 sc in each corner sc, end 7th rnd with sl st to corner, sc to even rnd, cut yarn.

Working 6 Black, A Gray & 2 White motifs with 3 dc in one
corner of each motif for underarm.
TO ASSEMBLE:
Block each motif.
Block each motif.
Sew motifs tog thru lps in back of each st of last row, using any
one color for sewing.
Arrange motifs according to chart below.
With Black work half motifs for Fronts, Neck & Sleeve edges as
follows:
HALF MOTIFS: Ch 3, 5 sc in 1st st of ch, cut yarn.
Do not turn rows & cut yarn at end of each row.
2ND ROW: Work in sc & in back lp of sts, work 2 sc in 1st & last st,
& 3 sc in center st, cut yarn.
NEXT ROWS: Rep 2nd row 4 [5] times, finish all ends.
Sew half motifs in place along each sleeve & front edge.
Sew 3 half motifs at neck.
Sew & ease 2 motifs at each side of front edge, match A to A,
B to B, & C to C as shown on chart.
EDGE:
Work loosely with Black, work row of sc around front edges & neck, cut yarn.

Join Black in 1st sc, work 1 sl st in each sc, cut yarn.
Finish sleeve edges to corres.
Fold coat & sew side & sleeve seams.
Fold motifs of lower edge in half for hem & blind st in place.
