MATERIALS:
2 tubes Peter Pan Ribbonette

BAG:
Cast on 48 sts.
Cast on 48 sts.
1ST
ROW: K 12, turn.
2ND
ROW: Sl 1, p 11.
3RD
ROW: K 24, turn.
4TH
ROW: Sl 1, p 23.
5TH
ROW: K 36, turn.
6TH
ROW: Sl 1, p 35.
7TH
ROW: K 48.
8TH
ROW: Purl.
9TH
ROW: Purl.
10TH
ROW: Knit.
11TH
ROW: Purl.
12TH
ROW: Knit.
Rep
these 12 rows for pattern, for 30 patterns.
Then
work 1st to 8th rows inclusive once. Bind off.
Make
another piece to match.
CENTERPIECE:
Chain 5 sts.
Chain 5 sts.
1ST
ROW: Work 1 sc in 1st st, 2
sc in next 2 sts, 1 sc in last st. Ch 1,
turn.

2ND
ROW: 1 Sc in first 2 sts, 2 sc in next 2
sts, 1 sc in next 2 sts. Ch 1, turn.
3RD
ROW: Work 1 sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in
next 2 sts, 1 sc in next 3 sts. Ch 1,
turn.
Continue
in this manner to work back & forth, always working 2 sts in each of 2
center sts, until you have 20 sts on each side of 2 center sts. Fasten off.
Make
another piece in same manner.
FINISHING:
With heavy sewing thread, pull a running st thru top of bag, to fit around bottom of centerpiece.

Sew
centerpiece to top of bag, having centerpiece on outside.
Sc
two top edges of bag together, starting about 4” away from end of centerpiece,
& continue around bottom, crocheting together on right side of stockinette
st, skipping purl side.
Fold
end of centerpiece around handles, & sew to outside of bag, as shown in
photo.
MISS
JULIA’S PURSE LINING NOTES:
[Before
joining finished pattern pieces]
Make
paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.
Cut
lining according to paper patt & sew tog.
Shirr
lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.
Insert
finished lining in bag.
Sew
in zipper [if desired].
Attach
ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].
Note: Cardboard
or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to
give shape extra support.
