Vintage 1971 Crocheted Pineapple Lace Skirt or Poncho #721
So easy to create this exquisite, lace, skirt or poncho…
Picture it in basic black for evening skirt!  
SIZES: 
Fits Sizes 8 to 16.
Finished Length = 27"

MATERIALS: 
Spinnerin Deluxe Knitting Worsted or Marvel Twist Wash Fit (4-oz. skeins) 7 skeins.
Crochet hook size H or size to give gauge.

GAUGE:
3 shell rows = 2"

Be sure to check your gauge before starting garment.
Use any size hook which will obtain the stitch gauge above.

NOTE:  
Body of this garment, which may be worn as either a skirt or a poncho, is worked for 38 rounds from foundation chain to lower edge; the yoke, which may be worn around neck & shoulders or around waist & hips, is worked for 6 rounds from first round of body to upper edge.

BODY: 
Ch 156 to meas 60”. Join, taking care that chain is not twisted. 

Rnd 1: Ch 2. Dc in same ch, with joining, * ch 6, sk 5 ch; in next ch, work 2 dc, ch 2, 2 do (shell), rep from *, ending ch 6, sk 5 ch, 2 dc in same ch as first dc, join with dc in top of ch-2 at beg of rnd -- 26 shells. 

Rnd 2: Ch 2, dc over dc worked in ch-2, ch 6; * in next ch-2 sp, work 2 dc, ch 5, 2 dc; ch 6, shell in next ch-2 sp, ch 6; rep from *, ending ch 6, 2 dc over dc of joining, ch 1, dc in 2nd ch of ch-2 at beg of rnd. 

Rnd 3: Ch 2, dc over joining dc (1/2 shell); * ch 5, 13 tr in ch-5 lp (pineapple pat), ch 5, shell in center of next shell, rep from *, end ch 5, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in 2nd ch of ch-2. 

Rnd 4: Ch 2, dc over joining dc (1/2 shell); * ch 3, tr in next tr, (ch 1, tr in next tr) 12 times; rep from *, end ch 3, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, dc in 2nd ch of ch-2. 

Rnd 5: Work 1/2 shell, * ch 3, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 11 times, sc in next ch-1 sp (11 lps over pineapple pat), ch 3, shell in next shell, rep from *, end same as Rnd 4.

Rnd 6: Work 1/2 shell, * ch 3, (sc in next ch-3 lp, ch 3) 10 times, sc in next ch-3 lp (10 lps over pineapple pat), ch 3, shell in next shell, rep from *, end as Rnd 4.

Rnd 31: Work 1/2 shell, * (work knot st, sc in sc of first 1/2-knot st) twice, work knot st -- 3 knot sts, shell in next shell, ch 3, work 7 lps, ch 3, shell in next shell; rep from *, end as Rnd 4.

Rnd 32: Work 1/2 shell, * joining with sc as before, work 4 knot sts, shell in next shell, ch 3, 6 lps, ch 3, shell in next shell, rep from end as Rnd 4.

Rnd 33: Work 1/2 shell, 5 knot sts, joining as before; shell in next shell, ch 3, 5 lps, ch 3, shell in next shell; rep from *, end as Rnd 4. Keeping continuity of pat, work & join 1 knot st more & 1 lp less in each section every rnd until there are 9 knot sts & 1 lp in each section.

Rnd 38: Work 1/2 shell, * ch 5, (sc in first sc of next knot st, ch 3, insert hk in top & side of last sc, yo  & draw lp through for picot) 9 times (2 dc in next shell, ch 3, complete picot, 2 dc In same shell) twice; rep from *, end 2 dc in same place as 1/2 shell, picot, join with sl st to top of ch-2. Fasten off. 

YOKE: 
Join yarn from right side in same ch as 1/2 shell of first rnd.

Rnd 1: Work 1/2 shell, * ch 5, work shell in same ch with next shell; rep from *, end 2 dc in same st with 1/2 shell, dc in top of ch-2.

Rnd 2: Work same as Rnd 1 but ch 3 bet shells.

Rnd 3: Work same as Rnd 1 but ch 1 bet shells.

Rnd 4: Work same as Rnd 1 without ch bet shells.

Rnd 5: Work 4 dc in each shell -- 26 4-dc groups.

Rnd 6 (Beading Rnd): Ch 5, tr in first dc of first 4 dc group, * ch 1, sk 1 dc, dc in next dc, rep from * around. Ch 1, join with a sl st to 4th ch of ch-5, fasten off.

DRAWSTRING: 
With double yarn, make a chain of desired length; fasten off.

TASSELS (Make 2): 
Wrap yarn 75 times around a 3“ cardboard.

With a tapestry needle, draw a short length of yarn under strands at one end & tie tog tightly, cut strands at other end.

Wrap a short length of yarn several times around strands 1” below tied top; tie securely.

FINISHING: 
Block garment.

Weave drawstring through beading; sew tassels.
