Vintage 1943 Lace Net Gloves #382

MATERIALS: 
J & P Coats
OR
Clarks ONT Mercerized Crochet, size 30, 3 balls any color
#10 or #11 Steel Crochet Hook

GAUGE: 
7 sps = 1”;    
11 rnds = 2”

LEFT HAND: 
Starting at wrist edge, ch 85 to measure 8”.  Join with sl st, being careful not to twist ch.

1ST RND:  Ch 3, * sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch 1.  Rep from * around, end with ch-1.  Do not join rnds.

2ND RND:  Dc in sp bet ch-3 & 1st dc, * ch 1, dc in next sp.  Rep from * around [43 sps].

3RD, 4TH & 5TH RNDS:  * Ch 1, dc in next sp.  Rep from * around.

6TH RND:  Make 3 ch-1 sps, ch 1, in next sp make dc, ch 1 & dc [inc]; make 4 more sps, ch 1, in next sp make dc, ch 1, & dc [another inc].  Make ch-1 sps to end of rnd.

7TH RND:  Make ch-1 sps to within inc of prev rnd, ch 1, into inc sp make dc, ch 1 & dc; make ch-1 sps to within next inc, ch 1, into inc sp make dc, ch 1, & dc.  Make ch-1 sps to end of rnd.

Rep 7th rnd until there are 14 rows of incs made.

NEXT RND:  Work ch-1 sps around to within second inc but do not inc on this rnd, ch 5, sc in sp of second inc, ch 2, sc in sp over first inc of prev rnd, thus forming thumb opening.  Ch 1 & cont making ch-1 sps to end of rnd. 

Work 6 more rnds of ch-1 sps, end bet Ring Finger & Little Finger.  Glove, when tried on, should reach base of Little Finger. 

Mark off sps for fingers on Palm & back of hand with pins or colored threads.

LITTLE FINGER: 
Work ch-1 sps around to Palm side, then ch 4 & cont in rnds, make 2 ch-1 sps over ch-4, until piece reaches 1 row above base of finger nail. 

On next row make dc into each sp around. 

Then work sl st into each dc around.  Fasten off, leaving 6” length of thread. 

Thread needle with this thread & draw it thru last row of sl sts.  Draw up tight & fasten end securely.

RING FINGER: 
Attach thread on Palm side & work around to back of hand until work reaches Little Finger, make ch-1 sps across base of Little finger [bet fingers], work around sps of Ring Finger on Palm side, ch 5 & work around sps of Ring Finger on back of hand.  Cont & compl as for Little Finger.

MIDDLE FINGER: 
Work as for Ring Finger.

FOREFINGER: 
Work as for Little Finger.

THUMB: 
Work in rnds as for other fingers & compl as before.

EDGING AT WRIST: 
1ST RND:  Attach thread to starting ch & work sc closely to around, keep work flat.  Join.

2ND RND:  Ch 3, in same place as sl st make dc, ch 2 & 2 dc;  ch 5, sk 3 sc, into next sc make 2 dc, ch 2 & 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join last ch-5 to 3rd ch of ch-3.

3RD RND:  Sl st in next dc & in next sp, ch 3, into same sp make dc, ch 2, & 2 dc, * ch 4, in next sp bet 2 dc-groups make 2 dc, ch 2 & 2 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join.

4TH RND:  Sl st into next dc & in next sp, ch 3, 2 dc into same sp, ch 3, into same sp make 3 dc;  ch 3, sc under 2 chs of prev 2 rnds, ch 3, into next sp bet 2 dc-groups make 3 dc, ch 3 & 3 dc.  Rep from * around.  Join & fasten off. 

RIGHT HAND: 
Work as for Left Hand, taking care to make Glove fit Right Hand.
