Vintage 1944 Casual Cordet Shoulder Bag #1064
Jack Frost Cordet, 75 yds – 6 tubes
Interchangeable with Soutache, Ribbon Braid, or Straw
8 Bone Rings
Lining Material
Size #5 White Crochet Hook

Ch 5, join with sl st to form ring.

Work 8 sc ring.

1ST ROW:  * Work 3 sc in first st, 1 sc in next st; rep from * 3 times.

2ND ROW:  Work 1 sc in first st, * 3 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts; rep from * 3 times, ending with 1 sc in each of last 2 sts.

Cont working rnd & rnd, inc 2 sts at each side of square by working 3 sc in center st at corners until square meas 7” in diameter.

Work 1 row of sc around entire square, taking back lp only.  Join with sl st.

Work 1 sc & 3 dc in first st, * sk 3 sc; 1 sc & 3 dc in next st, rep from * around square, working shell st in sc of prev row, until piece meas 7” from sc row.

Work 1 row of sc around top of bag.

Join cordet, * ch 5, sk 1 ch, 1 sc in each of next 4 ch, 1 sc in sc of prev row; rep from * around top & lower edge of bag.

 Ch piece 1 yd ]36”] long.

Work 1 sc in each ch.

Make corresponding piece.

Sew rings to inside of bag at top edge of lining.

Draw strings thru.

Sew ends of drawstrings tog to form a bow.

[Before joining finished pattern pieces]

Make paper patt from crocheted pieces & lay aside to be used later.

Cut lining according to paper patt & sew tog. 

Shirr lining bag form to correspond with crocheted bag.

Insert finished lining in bag. 

Sew in zipper [if desired].

Attach ornament to zipper pull tab [if desired].

Note:  Cardboard or lightweight plastic may be inserted between 2 layers of lining & bag to give shape extra support.
