Free Pattern - Vintage 1950s Beaded Sandals #664 - Crochet

Vintage 1950s Beaded Sandals #664


A skillful needlewoman will swiftly crochet these charming sandals accented with beads…A delightful, addition to the well-dressed woman‘s wardrobe!

SIZES: 
Small, Medium & Large. 
Directions are for Small with changes for Medium & Large in brackets.

Materials: 
Coats & Clarks ONT Speed-Cro-Sheen Metallic, Art 44, 4 balls of ecru
#2/0 [double zero] Steel Crochet Hook
1 Pair Foam Rubber Inner Soles
1 pkg assorted Walco Tile Craft Beads

GAUGE: 
6 sc = 1”;  
6 rows = 1”

SOLE:  BOTTOM: 
Starting at center, ch loosely 33 [36, 39] sts.

1ST RND:  5 Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in next 15 ch, dc in next 15 [18, 21] ch, 7 dc in last ch [toe end]; working along opposite side of starting ch make dc in next 15 [18, 21] ch, sc in each rem ch.  Join with sl st.

2ND THRU 8TH RNDS:  Sc in each st around, inc 3 sc evenly around heel & 5 sc evenly around toe end [to inc 1 sc, make 2 sc in 1 sc]. 

At end of 8th rnd, sl st in each sc around.  Join & break off.

Make another piece in same way.

HEEL: 
CH 16. 
1ST ROW:  Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in each ch across, 3 sc in last ch; working along opposite side of starting ch, make sc in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.

2ND THRU 8TH ROWS:  Sc in each st around, inc 3 sc evenly at rounded end.

9TH ROW:  Sl st in each sc around.  Break off. 

Make another piece in same way.

Sew edges of Heels tog & sew to Bottom Sole. 

Sew Top Sole to Bottom Sole. 

Sew foam rubber insole in place.

INSTEP: 
Starting at toe end, ch 20. 

1ST ROW:  Sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in each ch across.  Ch 1, turn.

2ND ROW:  2 Sc in next sc, sc in each sc across, making 2 sc in last sc.  Ch 1, turn.

3RD ROW:  Sc in each sc across.  Ch 1, turn.

Rep 2nd & 3rd rows alternately until piece meas 3 ½”. 

Sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner.  Break off.

Sew sides of instep to sole. 

Trim with beads.

Make another sandal in same way.
